I'm contemplating getting a dilator from soul source, the one with a flat base and reduced length for me to leave it in my vagina. Vagina is at reduced depth of 4" right now and I could fit a Dr Chettawut dilator size #0 (20mm diameter) and size #1 (23mm diameter). would there be any risk of complications or infection for leaving it in? or is it something that a lot of other girls like us been doing? it might help with simplifying my dilation since with this one (soul source silicone dilator #2, a light blue one with a flat base and 3/4" diameter) I could just go straight to Chettawut #1 size and save some dilation time.



also, as I started my expansion of diameter late (due to dilation issues and severe pain), as above, I'm only on 23mm diameter right now. I still can't fit two fingers into my vagina. it seems like there are two bones at the entrance blocking the double finger insertion. Will going up dilator sizes really resolve this? because it really feels like two bones are blocking. I'm a lesbian so I don't have penises in mind but I would like two fingers to go in easily, sex wise.

I've been thinking about this myself. I am still a ways away from bottom surgery, but I always seem to have to have everything planned. I sort of have control issues.

My thoughts are that it would be like a rear end plug. Wear a panty liner and a pair of tight jeans and it should work fine.

No one does so I doubt it's a good idea. There's probably no way to know the possible complications since no one does it.

A few surgeons have their patients wear a stent much like you are describing early post op, but it's not for long and it's hard to find out much about it.

What problem are you trying to solve? Perhaps there's other ways.

I would think that you would run the risk of puncture and maybe it getting stuck due to dryness? Don't know, but seems like it would be awfully uncomfortable at best.

Short stints of 20 minutes or so probably would not be an issue. Leaving it in for as long as a tampon probably would create issues.

Sitting down would be uncomfortable at best, and the potential for damage as jill610 mentioned is definitely a concern.  I personally wouldn't do it.  What worked for me to get more room is long dilation sessions working my way up in size.  It is definitely slow going.

As for the feeling of bone blocking the canal issue, going up in size should fix the issue as you have a lot of soft tissue to the bottom and sides of the canal that get stretched.  You should only have bone toward the front/top of the canal unless your pelvis is really unusual.

I'd not even want to imagine walking that way. Our dilators are rigid, unlike things that are meant to stay long term. So that and all the things mentioned before seem to lead to a solid no. It also probably wouldn't help. Expansion happens due to microtears alternating with healing. If you leave a dilator in, it'll not heal. If you're still interested, however, ask your doc first, please.

Extremely difficult to keep the dilator in. Custom made not sure unless the dilator I feel is flexible and comform to the path of your vagina canal? Sitting down or any pressure applied on the dilator may be dangerous in my opinion and may cause bruising.

If you've been operated by Dr. Chettawut I strongly advise to not try that. It could ruin your vagina.

okay, so, I know I've disappeared from this forum for about 3 months now, due to trying to juggle work and other stuff.

update: I'm regularly on both Chettawut #0 and #1 dilator now and recently tried to go #2 and it wouldn't fit more than half an inch in. gave up the idea for now but then I've realized the bleeding started all over again and I need to resort to wearing panty liners all the time now as I'm "spotting" for the past 1 month. and i realise the bleeding comes from the opening of my urethra.

peeing does not hurt and neither do I experience signs of a UTI. but when I touch the urethra it does hurt. it seems like the urethral opening is damaged hence the bleeding. and it has been quite awhile. I don't know what to do.

dont advise to see the doctor because all the specialists here where I live (Singapore) do not dare to take up my case, citing "lack of expertise and/or experience" and hence they do not want to be held liable for anything at all. Chettawut is out of the picture because I ever went back to him once, mentioning multiple issues and he just brushed them off and said everything is fine (after superficially checking me down there). and I'm very certain I'm not "issue-free".

all I have now is myself, and you girls (the community). bummer but that's really all my options right now. I really wanna go up to Chettawut #2 but the bleeding urethral opening seems scary and I have to put away that idea for now.. though I don't wanna wait too long post-op. (I'm about 10 months post op)

A bleeding urethra could be granulation tissue. It's quite common in the healing process of SRS and it bleeds very easily, it also hurts like a b*tch. The two bones you're talking about are the ischial tuberosity, or more commonly called 'sit bones'. Male pelvis' sit bones are less flared and offer less width in that region, so the odds of you somehow pushing them apart to achieve more width are slim.

As for your earlier question, I wouldn't advise leaving a dilator (or anything) in overnight or longer than a couple of hours for a multitude of reasons, one being the risk of rolling over and somehow dislodging the dilator and causing damage to the surrounding walls. I'm also not sure whether you'd be at risk of toxic shock syndrome, I'm sure it's a very low risk as TSS is usually caused by absorbent things like tampons, but unless you want to become a quadruple amputee, I wouldn't risk it.

But I have to. You need to find a urologist. Keep looking. Please. You could also try putting SSD (silversulfadiazine creame) or surgilube aroung the area. I am not a MD.

As to the initial question:
history[I was srs 45 years ago but because I was far from that group, I had no care and I stopped dilating(I could have called but I blew it.).  I picked it up again 15 years ago but only for a couple months. A month and  half ago I realized I needed to dilate because not doing so, I was repeatedly self infecting - chronic UTI.][my clitoris and urethra both hurt from the skin shrinking and I had a bit of eczema like skin on the labia] - so I got the cheapest - some hard plastic plain from Vuva, and started with 1" lying down for an hour. I was up to 1 1/4" which was quite painful for an hour and a half, when:
- while I was in being looked at a couple weeks ago for a labial resection, one of the docs suggested walking while wearing a dilator. So I got a thin belt and some 4" wide elastic , went back to the 1"(comfortable), I only tighten the elastic enough to keep it from dropping while I'm up, and for 6 days now I have worn it around my apt in two 3 hour sessions. No prob making coffee, puttering around, etc, and I made a cushion with a hole in the middle for sitting down for TV or computer. I pop it out briefly if nature calls and then put it back in - no fuss - wouldn't want to risk self contamination. Today I received a yellow 1 1/8 Soul Source and started using that.  I MUCH prefer the softish silicone to the hard plastic. I use SSD for lube so not concerned about any infection. I layer: me, dilator, undies, elastic, slacks. It came with instructions to wash dilator before and after so I'll use a bit of dial soap and a lot of water and pat dry with a tissue.  Hope that helps.
   I would def NOT suggest wearing it longer than that, or doing nature while wearing it - both for risk of self infection.

If I dilate too long -- maybe watching a movie and forgetting to remove it -- my Vagina drys out around it and it gets stuck.  It can be very painful to dislodge it . . .  I had surgery about 15 months ago at 66. The tissue used is non-mucosal and has no possible way to lubricate so I have to assume other have encountered this . . .

I would guess it's the particular lube you are using. That's why I use the SSD - it doesn't dry out.
