I am wondering what kind of effect all of you have had with your eyesight after going on HRT? Is there's known possible side effect that harms your eyesight if you go onto hormones? I ask because I have a pre-existing eye condition that already effects my sight. Love and faith.

Hi Gabrielle - I'm also interested in this question. I don't have an answer for you. But I've wondered about this. I just got a new pair of glasses and after years of my lens correction not changing, my correction decreased for this latest pair of glasses (I'm fairly nearsighted). It could be age, but I was wondering if it could possibly be the result of 6 months of HRT.

It does indeed have an effect, I think on the cornea. My prescription worsened by a couple of dioptres. Whether your prescription improves or worsens probably has to do with the type of ametropia you have.

My eyesight improved. It was explained to me that as I had laid down extra fat layers in my face on HRT that the dynamics of eye focus was altered. I know nothing about the subject but anecdotal comments suggest that there can be changes and from the comments in this thread so fair that it isn't very predictable!

Logic suggests that it wouldn't alter the eye itself but more on the muscles used to focus.

I haven't noticed any effect on my eyesight.  I have noticed that, if I am dehydrated, the hearing in my right ear gets a bit worse.  Dehydration, of course, is a side-effect of taking spironolactone.  I drink lots of water, but first thing in the morning, I am usually dehydrated and my right ear is a bit fuzzy.
