That's funny, I didn't know this policy was so new when I got my gender marker changed.

Anyways, I can personally confirm this news story, they don't need a doctor's letter or anything to change your gender marker. You still can't change your name unless you change it with the SSA first though (and for that you need the court order).
Also, from what I've heard as long as you have the right gender marker on your license Nevada law allows you to use whatever public bathroom you prefer. No discrimination there either. All in all, this is not a bad state to be trans in; people here tend to have a "live and let live" mentality.
