Hi girls, i had FFS 1 month ago, including hairline lowering. I'm shedding lots of hair from the incision site, expecially to the sides and on the widow's peak, but also many from the overall head. My questions are:

- Did you shed a big amount of hair after FFS?
- For how long time your shedding was abnormal?
- Did your hair regrow or you got any type of baldness or bald spots after FFS?

I had much less hair on top at the time of the my FFS. I did two rounds of hair transplants after FFS. I did not notice much hair loss, just around the incision area.

I have read before that with any surgery the stress and cause hair loss.

I had a scalp advance about two years ago to minimize my widow's peak, and it seemed to work out pretty well for the first few months, then all of a sudden I lost a golf-ball sized patch of hair right at the front of my hairline. The hair loss did not follow the incision line. It did grow back over the next few months, however.

More recently I had a hair transplant, hoping to fix the hair situation once and for all, but the Goddess seems to have a perverse sense of humor.  This time, as my hairline filled in nicely, I lost a lot of hair from the top of my head.  This was over the last seven months. It has yet to grow back. 

It's all a struggle, girl. All you can do is keep going forward.

Same story here.

FFS 2 years ago with scalp advance. Hair loss around the incision line, so I had hair transplanted to the front. My hair line is filling in slowly, very slowly.

Call me in a year or two to see how I am doing!

No, unfortunately I am wearing a very expensive hairpiece in my avatar picture.  The length is my natural hair, but I still have very thin hair on top.  I can sort of hide it if I comb my hair straight back and get it a little puffy, but if I sweat or my hair gets wet, then it looks pretty sad.

I just had my forehead done 2 months ago and had coronal incision from ear to ear and believe me I shed hair like a poodle in shedding season. Everytime I wash my hair and dry it with hairdryer I always see so much hair on the floor. But now it has gone down to  maye 70% normal. Trauma and surgery can cause hair shedding so I guess its normal

I haven't run into this - had the coronal incision method.  13 hours anesthesia, my jaw was a challenge.  No shedding beyond what I normally have. 

I had MUCH more shedding after GCS than FFS.  I think that having to stop hormones for a period before and after surgery really messed up my levels and the drop in E was a lot like women experience after giving birth, which itself causes major short term shedding.

The worst of the shedding was over after 3-4 months and now, at 8 months postop, things are much improved. 

I did shed a bit around the forehead incision site after FFS but that was quite localised (and is more properly described as being shock loss), whereas GCS was all over.

My FFS surgeon did not require stopping Estradiol.   I don't know if that had any impact on short term hair loss.

I've never used an anti-androgen - had GCS 4 months before FFS.

Ok, you all have me worried. How bad does it look? I mean golf ball size? That would be very noticeable. I've been growing my hair out for over a year now and it's just now passed my shoulders. My bangs are not long enough to tuck behind my ears yet. Just how noticeable is the hair loss? I know YMMV but? This is not going to discourage me but I don't want to wear wigs or a hat.

I did not experience any unusual hair loss after FFS.  I don't know why this occurs in some cases and not others. 

So i guess it is normal.. i hope. My shedding after 6 weeks from FFS seems coming back to normal, anyway i lost a lot of hair from the incision site along my hairline, and it is very bad now that i cannot pull my hair back anymore. I hope in 2-3 months they will start to grow back 

I posted my experience in a different thread last summer. Basically I had a long FFS - probably 8-10 hours plus hair transplant time - I was in my room in the very late evening, almost midnight, I think. Hair loss started at about 3 months and peaked at about 4-5 months when I also started to use supplements and hair oil to fight it back. At 7 months now I feel its not as bad anymore - maybe thanks to the countermeasures. I have noticed overall a thinnking of hair and I had my hair cut shorter to make it look good again. It works out fine. The hairloss is not noticeable MPB or something - I assume its just diffuese shock loss from long surgery time and also because its coronal incision and half of the scalp with hair was detached fromthe bone for a while during surgery

are your hair growing back?

for me was different.. i had hairline incision, and started to shed like a crazy after 2 weeks from the surgery, something like 150 hair por day, or more. I lost a lot of density on the overall scalp, and my hairline is gone away for half.
Now after 6 weeks the shedding in much less (i count the hairs and they are not more 60-70 a day, including those in the shower and those in the brush), so i hope the shedding is going to normalize, and hope much more that after the usual resting phase of 2-4 months they will start to grow back.
I will keep you informed, maybe will be a usefull info for next coming
