Long story short....

Today I passed another major milestone on my (m2f) transitioning journey... It might not seem much, but I flat out told my new hairdresser that I'd just come out as transgender and would he trim my long hair in a femme style? The male stylist (in a mainly ladies salon) was totally okay with it and carried out my wishes.

Not only that, an elderly lady who knows me was sitting in the next chair waiting for her colourants to set and was obviously listening in... She piped up with - "Well, good for you!" She then asked if she should keep quiet about it and I advised her it was totally okay to talk about, seeing as I'd already came out on social media and most of the locals had seen that and most have accepted it. The smile on her face made my day.

"Win-win, I've got a grin!" ;-)

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

@Johnni Gyrl
Wowzers!  your report is absolutely wonderful and very affirming news...
.. thank you for sharing with us all, I love postings like yours.

Early on in my transition I had similar experiences in hair and nail salons.
It is good to know that there are many people out there that do accept the trans-people that they come across...
....including the elderly lady customer!!!! :)

Again, thank you for sharing.
Hugs,
Danielle

That's awesome! I've dreaded any salon visits for that reason. Luckily I have a relative who's a cosmetologist.

Great news!  My stylist took it in stride also.  Do we get a photo?

But now old friends they're acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day.
