I have the awful male pattern baldness surfacing it's ugly man head on my head and I know that HRT will slow it down but it's going.
I love wigs, but they slip and slide all over the place and basically I am wondering is possible to live a life wearing a wig?
Transplants are way out of my price range

I've never worn a wig myself but I am interested in trying one out to see how I like a longer hairstyle. What I am hoping for is some input on this as a possible solution for my wife. She has severely thinning hair that really impacts her self esteem. I keep trying to encourage her to try a wig but maybe I am steering her in the wrong direction. I am going to keep an eye on your thread. Thanks for bringing this up. Love and faith.

My wife had also terrible thinning hair.  She went to the Mayo Clinic (we were lucky to live relative close to them in Minnesota), and they did a lot of testing and found that she had way to much testosterone and other male type hormones that cause typical male baldness syndromes.
After she got the appropriate medication, her hair grew back to the normal thickness.

Your wife might have a similar condition

I am resigned to wearing a wig for the rest of my life.  If I'm not wearing a wig, I'm wearing a hat that doesn't come off until I am safely home.

A wig shouldn't slide around.  Make sure you get one that is sized right.  Properly sized, it should sit snugly on your head, even in a light wind.  There is wig tape that can be used if motion is a problem.

I'm not trolling with this question, it's my biggest inner paranoia. Could you reliably wear a wig during sex? What about during other times of higher physical activity?

I know if I started losing my hair, I'd 100% get a wig. I'm scared by the thought of it falling off unintentionally though. That is my only mental hangup.

Yes, you can. 

The lace or lace-front wigs are typically held on using an adhesive or double-sided wig tape.  This keeps the lace flat on the skin, and holds a brushing of bronzer or foundation powder to 'disappear' the seam against the skin.

Other wig types can usually be fastened down with wig tape as well, and are unlikely to shift or fall off short of some fairly violent "50 Shades" interactions.

As a lifetime member of the MPB club since the age of 12 and an almost life long wig wearer I have found that a slippy slidy wig is either old/stretched out or perhaps not the right size. I have no knowledge of low cost wigs.

Most times I just put on the wig. On windy days or knowing I'll be more active then normal I'll use wig tape in teh front. Between the stretch of the wig cap and the little hair I have the rear stays put on it's own.

Follow up question: I am a workout-y type of person, and I was wondering if anyone has used wigs in the gym or doing yoga poses? I'm sure a wig can handle running and upright exercises, but can it handle you moving your head all ways around and upside down?

...And can it handle sweat?  I'd wear a cap rather than a wig for serious exercise.

You remind me that in the 1960s age of high stiff sprayed dos-- and wigs-- boys were used to hearing the phrase "do what you want, but don't touch the hair". You have to experiment, but there are a number of solutions-- tight bands, under-wig caps, adhesives, tape and so forth. A wig should be well fitted to your head. And with sex, it's always good for both parties to have a good sense of humor. Goofy accidents happen, but they make for funny stories stories later.

I always wear a baseball cap when I exercise or do very physical work. You can get nice hairpieces made for baseball caps.

I cannot say that ever even thought of the issues related wearing a wig during any serious workout.  I rarely wear them although I saw a really cute one this weekend.

I definitely say it is possible to wear a Wig and do pretty much anything, it just takes some getting used to.
Some Ex GFs of mine wore them all the time, as they wanted a long glamorous look which natural hair did not give them. It just requires a lot of maintenance. Some cultures are more used to them then others. Some of the finest Female Track athletes in the world have permanent hair extensions or bonded Wigs and still run insanely fast times!

Personally, Im ok with the Bald Bitch look, however am well aware this is not something most people would want, as its not exactly the height of feminine!   Works for Me for Now, although I plan to grow it a little after my hairline advance. My Wife is Wig Phobic in regards to me wearing them so its a no for those for me unfortunately. Otherwise I would consider something short and funky, like A Katy Perry Blonde Pixie Cut.

I would say get some good advice from a Wig Professional who fits them and go from there, hopefully they find you what will work well for you, and be far more cost effective than a Transplant, which are a bit pricey and don't offer guarantees over results.

I thought estrogen will cause your hair to grow back? 
I am lucky not to have any of those problems, but I have the feeling my hair gave up growing!  Not a single hair missing, but every one of them seems to be to lazy to grow!

Once a follicle has been inactivated by DiHydroTestosterone (DHT) long enough, it loses the ability to return to an active state (the stem cells at the base are dead), and that hair won't regrow.

I have many thousands of follicles in this state, alas, far more than even transplants can cover.

I am really absolutely ignorant with that kind of stuff.  it never applied to me, and that is the reason that I never educated myself about it.  My thing was always "oh sh*** I have to get a hair cut again"  Only now, when I am waiting for the things to grow, they seem not want to o so!

My only semi dysphoria is my beard growth (not very wild, but it growth), my kind of crummy looking fingernails, my voice and my big feet!

I probably could put rubber boots on and act as if I come from the pig sty!
