I work in an office by myself but there are a couple of other offices in the block. I was dressed in skinny joggers, a dress, wig, I have no real hair of my own, makeup and jewelry all the things that make me feel good about myself. I had been practicing my makeup so it was full on. Then a knock on the door. The delivery man was trying to deliver a package that I really needed. Normally he leaves them outside the door, but his time he knocked at the door of one of the other offices and delivered it there. So I thought how am I going to get this parcel. Being not out to anyone I know yet and not wanting to completely change and remove all the makeup I decided to take off my dress and put a polo shirt on, removed the wig and lipstick but left all the eye and face makeup on. Thinking to myself men do not look carefully at other men  I went out and boldly knocked next door for the parcel. At that same time the UPS man turned up with another delivery, no one took a second look. So I got my parcels and away with it.

Thought I would share this as I felt happy with myself and to give others a smile
Next time I will keep the lipstick on

that's really good! the perfect attitude I think, I need to do this so I will just do it.

I get what you are saying a lot, I always wish when at home looking pretty and I want a bottle of wine or something that I could just get up and go out and get it without having to change and remove my makeup and feeling sad about it

I think most can relate to that. Those that are not full time (like me) are constantly dressing and de-dressing and trying to adjust to situations. Like, I'm dressed at home and the door bell rings ... what do I do? For those full time I get how that removes some stress but it adds other kinds of stress. Sometimes I just want to say "F" it and reveal myself to all. But, there are work concerns and neighbor concerns (safety).

I think the most important thing I have learned from being in this community is how brave all of you are. I don't know most of you, but I'm very proud of all you and you help me take more steps forward. 

Took one more step forward today. Had two more parcels delivered, one from a random delivering from amazon and the other by my regular UPS man. This time I was simply dressed joggers, blouse, cardigan and of course the wig no makeup. Ok I chickened out with the wig but boldly opened the door and got my parcels. I was so happy with myself. I would have kept the wig on but it is a cheap and obvious one. I have a new one coming in a couple of days that will not look like a wig. Then if I feel good about myself I will be brave enough to open that door as me

For all of you who are tiptoeing out of the closet, don't be afraid.  Ninety nine percent of the people will be tolerant and accepting, and the remaining one percent would have looked for a reason to pick on you anyway even in boy mode just because you looked a little unsure or vulnerable.

Being out as yourself is a thousand times better than slinking through life in male guise currently worrying if you are doing well enough as a man.
