Yes, so did I when I was 12 years old. That was over 50 years ago and I just cannot do it that way any more. I do my best to keep active, but sometimes as we age, we just do not have the flexibility any more. 

I started wearing bras when I was 12-13, and ever since then I've done the "hook and spin" method. I could never learn to hook it at the back. I can barely even unhook it at the back. So sometimes (especially with new bras that are very firm) when I take off the bra again I pull down the shoulder straps, then slip the bra down to around my stomach, spin it and unhook.

I have to hook and spin.   my mother did it that way, but 1st and 2nd wives could do a bra any way they wanted.  I just like wearing a bra.

I'm fortunate I'm able to hook a bra by reaching behind and hooking two or three hooks.
I'm also able to put on or remove a rear hook bra without removing my shirt.
