Hey everyone!

After many years of waiting and life events getting in the way, I'm finally having GRS with Dr. Dugi @ OHSU in Portland in 9 (!!) days. Not that I'm complaining about the life events, mind you, they were all very much worthwhile.  That said, I transitioned back in the mid-2000's so this has been a long time coming.

Why Dr. Dugi? Mostly because he takes my insurance, but I also did a bunch of research and he seems like a good guy to go to. I've been living stealth for a long time so I don't really have anyone to talk to about all this, and I thought it might be a good idea to share my experiences someplace where they might help others who are trying to figure out this part of transition.

It's taken 18 months to get here since I first got the ball rolling, and yes that's a long time. And my experiences so far with the consultation, the pre-op appointments, and the staff have all been quite good thankfully. Each time I've met with Dr. Dugi he answered all of my questions fully and thoughtfully, explained exactly what he's going to do in plain language, showed me some of his results, addressed all of my concerns, and more.

I think what's surprising me the most right now is just how level-headed I feel about all of this with just over a week to go. I think that's probably a good sign. Am I nervous? Yeah, for sure. But I also feel pretty confident going in. Maybe it's because I've had so long to prepare? Well whatever it is, it works for me :)

I'll be sure to post more as the day gets closer and also after. Plus I'm happy to answer any questions people might have, both before and after.

I had surgery with him October 8, and I couldn't be happier. You are in good hands. Good luck with your surgery.

Hey Lindsay,

Congratulations for pursuing your dreams so persistently.  I have several dear friends who have been thru OHSU and Dr Dugi's care.  They are happy and satisfied girls with the results today.

All the best to you with your surgery and healing.
