I have a lot of questions about GCS in Thailand

So I just started HRT but I'm already thinking 2 or 3 years down the road.

I find myself mostly interested in Thai surgeons because of their non-inversion technique. I'm a straight woman and so depth is very important to me. With that in mind, here are my questions:

  • What surgeon did you choose and why?
  • Is the Thai technique still considered better in terms of sensitivity? I've heard that the procedure takes longer in part because they are more careful with the nerve endings.
  • What is the actual depth difference between the non-inversion and inversion technique and is that depth sustainable over time?
  • I understand you have to dilate for three hours a day for two years after the surgery. Is it difficult to maintain a normal life (job, dating, etc.) with that kind of dilation schedule?
  • What is the dilation procedure actually like? Would I be able to sneak off on my lunch break and do it?
  • Is it true that you need to take a minimum of three months off of work?
  • What happens if there's a complication that requires you to overstay your visa?
  • What happens if there's a complication after you return to your home country (I'm in the U.S.)?
  • What happens if there is a medical emergency in Thailand and you need to be hospitalized there? Do you need special insurance for that?
  • How does Dr. Chettawut handle revisions
  • Do you meet Dr. Chettawut for the first time when you travel to Thailand, or  do you have to fly there for a consultation first?
  • Under what conditions does he require an additional skin graft?
  • How do you pay him? (e.g. bank transfer?)
  • What does he currently charge for GCS/SRS? What about if you need additional skin?
  • How do you go about setting up aftercare in the United States?
  • I understand that the neo-vaginal wall is created from the scrotum. Are there pleasurable sensations associated with that tissue or does it all come from the labia/clitoris?
  • Are you orgasmic and if so how long did it take to achieve your first orgasm post-GCS?
  • Is it possible to achieve orgasm through vaginal intercourse alone?
  • Did you have any complications related to your surgery and if so how what were they and how were they corrected?
  • Open question for anything I forgot to ask but you think I should know anyway :)

Woah, that is a load list of queries. I try to revert based on my experience the best I can.

What surgeon did you choose and why?
Chett and Suporn were my preferred. In the end I ended with Chett. Primarily reason was that Suporn has passed the technique to his other surgeons and may not be himself operating. That is something that I am generally not so comfortable with. Even thou he will be providing guidance but I guess my comfort level isn't there. Also Suporn's schedule is really very limited starting this year hence I went with Chett. His reviews are generally equivalent marching to Suporn in terms of technique and skill, which generally to me is the most importance.

Is the Thai technique still considered better in terms of sensitivity? I've heard that the procedure takes longer in part because they are more careful with the nerve endings.
I am not sure about the other surgeons apart from Thailand really, so I cant comment on their skills. But I do believe that practise makes perfect and with the vast operations done for patients undergoing SRS, I would feel that Thailand is still a much preferred choice. Of course there are various different techniques so to say, such as colon, inversion and non inversion; so its really a matter of doing your own research to see which suits you best.

What is the actual depth difference between the non-inversion and inversion technique and is that depth sustainable over time?

No comments on this. I went for the non-inversion. I feel it largely depends on the anatomy of yourself. The surgeon will try his/her best to create the best possible depth (well of course depending on the experience and how safe he/she feels should go. Do research on the depth restrictions for better understanding.) Maintaining depth, well depends on how diligent you do your dilation. You can follow the doc advise and chances you will not lose depth.

I understand you have to dilate for three hours a day for two years after the surgery. Is it difficult to maintain a normal life (job, dating, etc.) with that kind of dilation schedule?

Well it really depends on the surgeon. Every surgeon has his or her preferred schedule. Well, definitely it affects your daily life. Just have to learn to get around it. Its not permanent fix on that 3 hours. I believe as recommended by doc after 2years or so you can cut down on the frequency. So just have to get thru that.

What is the dilation procedure actually like? Would I be able to sneak off on my lunch break and do it?

You need to lie down during the process.

Is it true that you need to take a minimum of three months off of work?

Not really I was back working after one half month from date of operation. Just that probably you need to take things abit slow and not over tire yourself.

What happens if there's a complication that requires you to overstay your visa?

If you are worried, you can apply for a longer visa such as 90days. Do google and check it out.

What happens if there's a complication after you return to your home country (I'm in the U.S.)?

You can contact them via email to explain your situation. So far Chett till this day has been very fast in response to my queries that I post. For those critical emergency, I believe your local US healthcare should be able to handle.

What happens if there is a medical emergency in Thailand and you need to be hospitalized there? Do you need special insurance for that?

Please check with your insurance for coverage aspects.

How does Dr. Chettawut handle revisions

Revisions depending on the type you are referring. Usually for Chett, you are required to stay at least 25days after the op to see how well you are recovering. If any complications requiring revisions, he will do it a week before you go back home. His nurse will update based on daily checks to him on the conditions and he will determine the revisions required.

Do you meet Dr. Chettawut for the first time when you travel to Thailand, or  do you have to fly there for a consultation first?

I met him 5days before my op. He consult there and then. Of course I already knew what I want and what he does after doing research prior. I have also contacted him via email ahead to ask about any queries that I might have. Of course you can fly there for preconsult. I dont see why not. Depends if you have the budget.

Under what conditions does he require an additional skin graft?

If you do not enough skin on your existing genitalia. The doc will advise after reviewing you.

How do you pay him? (e.g. bank transfer?)

I guess you are referring to Chett? Yes bank transfer is one of them. Do send them an email to check with them other options available for payment.

What does he currently charge for GCS/SRS? What about if you need additional skin?

No comments on this. Please check with them if you are interested.

I understand that the neo-vaginal wall is created from the scrotum. Are there pleasurable sensations associated with that tissue or does it all come from the labia/clitoris?

Mostly from clitoris. The canal does create good sensations if you would associate pleasure with some pain in some sense.

Are you orgasmic and if so how long did it take to achieve your first orgasm post-GCS?

Yes. 5months post for my case. Well that is because i have not done anything before the 5months to stimulate myself as I wanted it to heal.

Is it possible to achieve orgasm through vaginal intercourse alone?

Yes and no.

Did you have any complications related to your surgery and if so how what were they and how were they corrected?

So far none for me after my revision during that one month stay there.

*What surgeon did you choose and why?

I choose PAI and used Dr Sutin. Consulted 6 surgeons in Thailand including Chett and Suporn. Both Chett and Suporn were great talkers and marketers and seemed to handle a western based clientelle charging them much higher prices. Both were students of Dr Preecha of PAI, the founder of the mondern penile inversion technique. Their quality and aesthetics were almost identical with PAI but charged 50 to 80 pvt more. PAI is a modern clinic while Suporn and Chett were shop houses out in the middle of nowhere.

* Is the Thai technique still considered better in terms of sensitivity? I've heard that the procedure takes longer in part because they are more careful with the nerve endings.
What is the actual depth difference between the non-inversion and inversion technique and is that depth sustainable over time?

All surfeons in Thailand do the penile inversion and then add a trick in their surgery e.g. Suporn meshing, its all marketing. My sensitivity and ability to orgasm clitorally and vaginally has been amazing. I have 6in depth.after 3 years.

*I understand you have to dilate for three hours a day for two years after the surgery. Is it difficult to maintain a normal life (job, dating, etc.) with that kind of dilation schedule?
What is the dilation procedure actually like? Would I be able to sneak off on my lunch break and do it?

Varies from Dr to Dr. but PAI using Dr Sutin I dilated 2x a day for 15 minutes for a year. Then 4 to 5 times a week for maintenance. I know Dr Chetts dilation requirements are long and multiple times daily. None of his girls that I know folliwed his instructions after 6 weeks.

*Is it true that you need to take a minimum of three months off of work?

One month after surgery is ok if you have no problens.6 weeeks would be better.

*What happens if there's a complication that requires you to overstay your visa?

Medical visa extensions are easy to obtain.

*What happens if there's a complication after you return to your home country (I'm in the U.S.)?

Depends if its due to negligence. Alot of complications are caused by distortions caused by swelling post surgery. Aesthetic corrections a year later but its not free. If its PAI and they made a mistake they will pay for flights, accommodation and proceedure.

*What happens if there is a medical emergency in Thailand and you need to be hospitalized there? Do you need special insurance for that?

Thailand has great private hospitals which are reasonable priced and covered by international insurance. Not sure about US insurance.

*How does Dr. Chettawut handle revisions

Not a fan if Dr Chett and dont know. Read my GRS surgeon review on the forum,  some 3 years ago.

*Do you meet Dr. Chettawut for the first time when you travel to Thailand, or  do you have to fly there for a consultation first?

Had a consultation and didnt like him.

*Under what conditions does he require an additional skin graft?

Skin grafts are standard for all surgeons for those lacking skin. Often causing significant swelling and distorts the aesthetics.

*How do you pay him? (e.g. bank transfer?)

Surgeons all accept bank transfers.

*What does he currently charge for GCS/SRS? What about if you need additional skin?

Dr chett was aroung usd 12,000, PAI usd 8,600 and Suporn 15,000

*How do you go about setting up aftercare in the United States?

Not a  usa person so dont know. But should not require aftercare.

*I understand that the neo-vaginal wall is created from the scrotum. Are there pleasurable sensations associated with that tissue or does it all come from the labia/clitoris?

Great sensation clitoral and vaginal

*Are you orgasmic and if so how long did it take to achieve your first orgasm post-GCS?
Is it possible to achieve orgasm through vaginal intercourse alone?

Great orgasms clitorally aand vaginally. Clitoral orgasm after 4 months. And yes, orgasm thru vaginal intercourse.

*Did you have any complications related to your surgery and if so how what were they and how were they corrected?

No problems at all.

*Open question for anything I forgot to ask but you think I should know anyway :)

There is si much written on surgeons. I wrote a detailed review 3 years ago.

Thank you so much for your detailed answers! I'm still a few years off from GCS but it's never too early to start researching.

Pardon my ignorance but what is PAI?

So far none for me after my revision during that one month stay there.

Thank you so much for your detailed answers! I know I put a lot out there at once, I just figured I might as well put it all in one thread rather than a bunch of different ones.

If you're comfortable asking may I ask what happened that required a revision?

I had skin necrosis due to inadequate blood supply causing the skin to turn black and die. Happen at the stiches area on one side. But that is due to my smoking habit and excessive movements, I don't blame Chett for that as I didn't heed his advise to rest in bed for the 2 weeks during my recovery.

Brenda80,
I am assembling stastics regarding labia skin necrosis from GRS. Could you tell me if you had a skin graft?

Thank you, sorry to go off topic.

Yes. But mine wasn't at the labia skin area. Rather at the outer layer overlaying.
