Ingrown toenails.I had 3/4 removed,and a few years ago the podiatrist asked me do you want both done and I said no because he butchered my other nail(I have no more pain from ingrown nails but the nail is small).Fastforward to this weekend I regret that decision of not going 4/4.So, tonight I go to ER, and I am checking in and the nurse says the physicians don't cut the nail. They will give me antibiotics and pain relievers.They will also refer me to a podiatrist.I talked with the billing department before I left, and they said if I walk out before being admitted, then I don't get charged for the visit. I guess I'm going back to the podiatrist one of these days.Here is a lesson for anyone who does not take care of the toenails before transitioning.Please, just tell the guy do them if they ask.I am saving you a headache and to those with decent nails keep them nice I am saving you 2100$ and four visits.All of this is a result of a bad nail biting habit as a kid.

I feel badly for you.   
I have never had "ingrown" toenails but from what others have told me, they can be very painful and even cause issues when walking or wearing certain types of shoes. 
I trust that now after your 4 visits, that all will be OK and that your "Ingrown" toenail problem is now solved.

I am however, just a little confused about your last sentence...

Were you actually biting your toe nails as a kid, or were you having "Ingrown" nail issues with your fingernails also?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts...  I trust that the pain is not an issue any longer.

I didn't want to gross people out, but I used to bite my toenails and hand nails as a kid. Only the big toes got ingrown and all my other toes are fine .
What I meant by 3/4 is  that was on each big toe you have a left and a right side, and that's four chances of ingrown nails. If you look up the pain scale it's probably a 4  or a 5.
The first time I went to the podiatrist he asked me why did it take me so long to get there.I had been ripping out the side of the nail out for months before I finally decided to go.I still cringe everytime I think of the look on his face.
I have one of my toes completely done and then the other one only had an ingrown nail on the right side. At the time the doctor told me he wanted to take care of both of them, but I didn't want him to butcher this toe like he butchered my other one. I told him No thank you,  I'll take my chances, and it has been two years since that last visit.  Ripping the nail out is about A 6 or A 7 and then afterwards the pain goes down to a one. I don't really want anybody to feel bad for me I am just trying to tell people to take care of their nails. I definitely appreciate the thought though.

I had one when i was a child and it was horrible. I would rate it higher than 4 or a 5.

Yeah.I also had a brick land on my index finger. The nail fell off the next day. I'd agree with the pain level being higher as a child.
