a thirsting lion devours my eyes

                          I dream

               of obscurity

for the gaping wound

that will not heal

a faceless enemy

drops his full weight upon

  the bayonet

  that pierces

  my lung

I kick once, and,

with an endless shudder

my whole life passes

through my bladder

a thirsting lion devours my eyes

Through clenched eye teeth

I dream

  of obscurity

   for the wound

that will not heal

I don't know what a metaphor is.

I am a rose, beautiful but thorny and slowly wilting away.

(hope I'm not getting marked on this, lol)    >:D

I'm rusted Iron Sometimes

I'm tough from pressure and heat
but rusted and forgetful or confused about what shines underneath
Truth to me is a brillo pad
or WD40
Or Acid that eats the rust away
And Corrodes the shine as well
So in the end I've polished too much of myself off
And I'm no longer strong

Just a piece of shiny, frail foil. Finally aware of what its true nature is because most nature has been stripped away.

Well my life...

Here's another...

My life is a thread of kevlar.

My life is coffee, grounded and aromatic.

How's that one?  :)

I was shattered into fragments and reforged as something better.

My life is a ship at sea – a schooner under sail.

There have been storms that have nearly destroyed her.  Storms that shredded her sails, threatened to snap her masts like kindling and swamp her hold.  The briny deep seemed to reach out for her, and still she sailed on.

Her mettle was tested far beyond what it was thought she could endure.  Tested to where every plank groaned under the loads, and she came through into bright sunshine – fair winds – and a following sea.

Her Captain will never doubt again.

There will be storms.  And the battle will rage.

But she will never strike her colours.

We sail proud and free.

Our course set by Divine Providence.

We know not what lies ahead, but we will be daunted no longer.

With these lyrics from Tristania's "Tender Trip on Earth"

Up on the gallery
God shouting down at me
Something I can not be.

Tears falling from the sky
Words from a lullaby
Everything beautiful dies.

For now, we're hanging in
Though we're all blessed with sin
You make my tired heart sing.

My life is the clock dripping over the ledge in a Salvidor Dali painting.

I am the little girl sliding down the wooden railing, and life is the nail that is sticking out about an inch.

I'm the Goddess of Spring. Here's the metaphor, but since it's already been posted I've just placed the link here.

Nice topic, Tasha.

I was on a roller coaster for a short while until it made me giddy at which point I stepped off.  Looking back, I noted I was the only one who had stepped off and thought I must be chickenhearted or something if I couldn't take it.

Then I started to note those still on the roller coaster were also giddy.  They were complaining about being dizzy and getting sick from being giddy but they wouldn't listen to me when I told them to simply step off. They thought I was strange.

I watched them for a long while but this also made me kinda giddy and quite sad.

So I looked away.

My life is either...

A long queue at a bus stop.

Or an out of sync simulator.
