Denise, congratulations!

You moved into a new body, so it was time to unpack.   ;)
Okay, that's funny!

Today is discharge day.  But first they need to remove the catheter (Foley).  The procedure they "warned" me about is:
* Lay on the bed
* Back fill my bladder with 300ml (about 10oz) of water
* Pull the catheter out
* "Run" to the bathroom
* Pee into a measuring cup.
* Fingers crossed you expell about 300ml

Then they will start the discharge process.  Funny that I don't know what happens if I don't expell 300ml.

There's a light at the end of the tunnel and it's not an oncoming train.

More later

Oh dear! Kinda like an enema but in the front. Yes indeed, "RUN" to the bathroom. There certainly is a lot of things to take into consideration when going through this phase of our transitioning.

Congratulations Denise and have a safe short trip home. Don't walk! Please let someone take you home. I guess I should welcome home as you may already be home now?

Hugs girl!
Donica.

Saturday day +9

I did very little today and it felt good.  I did a little cooking but mostly day in a recliner watching all sorts of stuff on the tube.

Tomorrow is baking day.  I want to make a few different cookies.

The only pain I have left is my lower abdomen.  It feels like a really bad sunburn.  Touching/clothes-rubbing is very painful.

Dear Denise:
I love to have days that I have nothing going on... usually that only happens on a weekend when the weather gets really bad... sometimes I will stay in my PJs and/or sweats... and like you, watch some movies, read a book by my fireplace, spend some time on the Forums....
...and today I spent the afternoon baking Cinnamon Rolls... (pictures are on my Hunted Prey thread)

I am glad that most of your pain and discomfort is pretty well gone... with the exception of your lower abdomen.  I am sure that in a couple days that may go away as well.

You sounded happy and content in your posting...  I am so very happy for you and your surgery results...
Thank you for posting and sharing...

I am trusting that you will have a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.
Hugs and well wishes,
Danielle

Thanks Danielle.  Sometimes I wish I lived in a town like yours.  I really like the sound of being in a house surrounded by a foot of snow, curled up by a fire and reading a good book.  I'm envious of that.  But I'm not so convinced that 63 days of nights (Barrow Alaska) would be my cup of tea.

Yup! That's all I'm doing today too Denise. Though, before I finally changed out of my pajamas, I did do some shopping online. I spent way too much.

Very easy to do.

One more thing pre surgery is to shave your arms.  I probably had three IVs and a few blood draws.  Pulling tape off is no fun.

What kind of IV dressing did they use hat pulling it off would hurt you?  Was it the clear Tegaderm stuff, or just standard tape?

I don't know.  They used some tape on the blood suckers.  It would have been less uncomfortable without hair.

Remember, I'm the one who has not used pain killers since bed time day one.  Some pains are optional for me.

Thanks!
I don't know what pain it is, when tape is pulled off of hairy skin.  I am that hairless person, who has no relations to such kind of pains.

The waiting game for things to heal is SOOOOO boring.  Tomorrow I head back for my post-op follow-up appointment.  Dr Schechter's post-op care is different from others. I've not started dilation yet.  Tomorrow I'll be shown what/how to do the dilation.  I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to it or absolutely terrified of it.  I think I'm looking forward to the next step in the process of healing.

I'll post again tomorrow when I get home and let you know how it went.

Denise, hoping your post op appointment goes well.   Maybe you should look upon dilation as the answer to boredom! :)

Dear Denise:
I trust that your Christmas Day went well for you....  it was indeed a very Merry Christmas for yourself as you have taken this big step in your transition.

Ahhhh, the "waiting game" for things to heal... it never happens as quickly as we all desire.  PATIENCE !!!!!
Please know that we are all wishing that you a good report from your doctor with your followup appointment... and of course learning what you will have to do with dialation, etc.

Consider all of this as your Christmas Present to yourself.   This will go down in your journal as your most  memorable Christmas ever!! The New Year in 2019 will be the year of the "new" you...  I am very happy for you.

I am looking forward to reading your continued updates...
Blessings to you and wishing you a quick and complete recovery.
Hugs,
Danielle

Dilation is not boring.  Or is that a pun.  Dilation is intentionally boring and I know the drill.

Oh yes Kendra! I recall you spoke of a Mr. Rammstein was it? I do believe you mentioned he was a boring subject.

I just go home from my follow up appointment.  All is good and healing well. Dilation demo went well.  We only used the first two in size,  yellow and orange.  No issues, no pain, no ... nothing.

I know that sometimes I can ignore pain or even compartmentalize it away but in this case there was only a feeling of fullness.

I go back again on the 7th where the purple dilator will attempted and the hard curved dilators will be introduced next week.

Douching is a strange feeling.  Especially with the betadine in the solution.  It looks like flat Coca-Cola going in and coming out all over the shower.

Tomorrow is dilation at home #1.  They told me to hold off today and start 3-a-days Friday.  Total time is 15-30 minutes.  You might want a TV and watch a show.
