Sorry if this has been covered before, but I've not managed to find a solid answer for this question.

Do you have to fight acne as long as you are taking T,  or does it go away once your body gets used to the change?

I'm no authority on the subject as I'm not on T. However, I think you only need to worry about acne when you're going through your "second puberty."

I didn't get it very badly, but I did need to be careful about washing my face for the first year or so. After that it calmed down to a point where my normal hygiene routines work (showering daily) and I don't have to run about with special acne washes.

I have been on T for almost 2 years, and I have never had too bad a problem on my face, but my back was bad at first, and still now I get some there, but not too bad.

i never washed my face before, is that something we should do?  i was just thinking about this today.  does washing your face really make an impact?

You should keep your face normally clean but scrubbing it unduly isn't a good idea. I had very mild acne when I started T but it went away within a year. I still get the occaisional pimple, but nothing more than that.

Jamie- T does not cause acne anymore then estrogen does. Besides genetic and hygenic acne the increase you see is actually due to an imbalance. In theory once your body adapts and the dosage is stable the problem should go away. Here is the catch 22 injections are never stable dosing. The daily gels, creams and oral methods are much more stable. Aside from that the longer dosing of pellets is less of a problem but at the beginning and end of cycle bring acne.

I'm just a bit concerned, since I already have some problems with that, and the only thing that ever worked for me was taking the pill.  Obviously that's not going to be an option.   I was reading an article about  mega dosing vitamin B5 to control acne.

This was something i was worried about too. I found out that T increases the amount of serotonin that is produced. When the serotonin increases more oil is produced which leades to acne, but once your skin and body get use to this, your acne will start to go away. So i guess that is why this problem occurs.

I just bought an acne wash - I think it was Phisohex, and washed my face in the shower. For bad days I bought some of the Noxczema pads, although if you have sensitive skin, they're a bit like kerosene. Wasn't a lot of extra effort.
