Why do almost all breast augmentations look rock solid?

I don't get it. Honestly.

The material they put in, is made of very soft material. Put underneath the breast tissue even.

But when you see it, it typically looks like someone put two solid balls in there. They can barely move.

So how does soft material placed underneath, have such a rigid looking result? Why is everybody satisfied with this? Why isn't their major calls for improvement?

When it comes to that, I might as well stick with breast forms.

Short answer? They don't.

Longer, better answer.. This does not happen in all cases, in fact fairly few. But it is possible for the body to encapsulate the implant in a fibrous tissue that makes them look firm and outlines the implant clearly.. Low quality implants.. Overfilled saline implants.. Oh.. And a common one.. People seem to like to take pics of their new boobs while they are still healing and so there is swelling and other inflammation involved.

I've met women who have implants that you'd never be able to tell, even with a thorough physical exam.  <Edited>

Then how come you see famous, wealthy people with the condition?

Victoria Beckham can afford the best surgeons in the world yet the shape is clearly unnatural. She wears low cut dresses to show off, which would indicate that is the result she expected.

I met with a surgeon recently and he does some of his transgender women patients in two steps where the first stage he implants stretchers to stretch the skin and allow for a more natural shape. Then on a follow up surgery he implants silicone implants and they look perfect. He has many examples of his work and they look authentic enough to me. It depends on the person, body structure and size of the implants as well.

Either do I but apparently YOUR RIGHT! My older sister had implants over 25 years ago and she says the exact same thing: hard as rocks!
"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"

Given the bodice on that outfit, I'm not surprised at the appearance of her breasts, they are being pushed up by a bodice made for smaller breasts. That's a clothing choice issue. That said, a high price is no reflection on a surgeons skills.

She may also have chosen to have her breasts appear like that. I wouldn't, but I'm not her.

Yes, that looks very tight and uncomfortable. You can see the twists of skin under her arm. There is a battle against gravity going on...and gravity isn't winning!
She believed she could so she did!

Natural looking ones of her size would make a cleavage in that outfit.

There are 3 different types of breast implants.
QuoteSaline
Saline breast implants are made up of sale, or salt water, and can give women a fairly natural look, feel, and appearance. And one of the best parts about saline implants is that if they were to burst or rupture at any point, the saline solution is easily and safely absorbed into your body, so it won't cause any sort of health issues.

Silicone
Another common type of breast implant is silicone implants. Although they took a hiatus from the plastic surgery world in the 1990's due to safety issues, silicone implants are now safer than ever. Filled with a silicone substance, these implants give women a natural feel. If ruptured, it often times takes patients a few days to notice a rupture due to how slowly silicone leaks into the body. Just like saline, however, saline is completely safe and dissolvable by the human body.

Gummy Bear Implants

These types of implants are fairly new to the plastic surgery market and offer patients the most natural looking and feeling breasts yet. Made from a high strength silicone gel, gummy bear implants hold their shape and form better than both saline or silicone implants.

I would get the Gummy Bears or as some men say 'gummies' because they look realistic.

No matter which type of implant you get, many women get capsular contraction of some degree and they can cause the hard unnatural look we all want to avoid.  Not all women get severe capsular contraction and those are the breasts that look and feel very natural.

I wonder if this is caused by the skin being too tight?

Way back when, when we started to work on the development of these things, we did not have in mind that healthy women would ave them implanted to get bigger boobs.  Our goal audience were women who had their breasts removed becuse of cancer.  And the implants looked pretty normal in those applications, because they just replaced the tissue that was removed.

Now comes the cosmetic surgery, and all of a sudden, stuff gets put underneath or on top of healthy breast tissue, and the skin gets stretched to no end, and everything looks very tight and solid.  They improved the technique over the years, but I believe it looks also pretty artificial, because many women get larger implants than they should have, and the skin can hardly hold the additional volume, and reacts accordingly!

It makes total sense.

I wondered this too. It does often look unnatural and "over full". Some people want this look, but I'd rather be flat as a pancake than have ones that look like a pair of ping pong balls.

Maybe implants could be smaller but people think they should go larger just in case, I have heard this from someone I know who wanted a boob job. They were worried about going through the hassle of surgery only to have something unnoticeable, after all the expense and recovery. I don't know if she got it done in the end.

There is one picture in that set where she is wearing a loose fitting tee, no bra, and her boobs are completely covered.  In that shot they look awesome.  Also, most guys are not as critical as women.  They just see big boobs.

I believe that breast implant are to enhance what you have not completely redesign.

Each body is different. Some end up looking like that, some look very natural. It also depends on the surgeon.

I'm 65, and will be receiving mammary feminization (yes, that is what the provider is calling it!), or Breast Augmentation (BA) in a couple of months.  I'm a small 34B, and will be adding an estimated 275-300 cc in each side, under muscle.  The surgeon will determine what size works best.

I fully expect to have this 'unnatural' tight appearance for a while as things settle down and tissue swelling slowly goes down.  I am OK with this.

I expect to look 'unnatural' for my age afterward, as unlike many cisgender women my age, I do not expect the twins to be swaying down at my beltline.  I am also OK with this.  I am quite certain my girlfriend is OK with this.  ;)

The goal is to feel right, feel comfortable in my body, to be able to dress as I want to dress, to don a swimsuit and be stared at for all the right reasons.

Yeah, eventually I will be the most rock-solid looking woman in the memory care unit.  I'm OK with that, too.  Eventually.  Meanwhile I get to be me, whole and complete.

It has been seven weeks since I got my bolt on bewbies and while they are pretty natural looking they do still look a bit on the oddly round and high sitting side.  They are looking much better than immediately after surgery though, but they won't be done settling until at least the 6 month mark.  At that point they should look quite natural, if a bit too perky for someone pushing 40.

I think a lot of these rock hard looking boob jobs are done by surgeons who go for the fake look either by preference or by the patient's request.  Some women really like that look and as such it is a money maker for the surgeon.  I went for natural personally and my surgeon did a pretty great job.
