Hello all,

I have been reading threads for a few weeks, so I figured I should introduce myself.
Don't know quite what to say.  Well, that's not entirely true.  I started an introduction and before I knew it I was writing my TG life story.
I am proud to call myself Transgender (took me a long time to admit that).  Though I've been on an anti-androgen for a couple years now, I only recently started estrogen therapy.

Let's see, what else: I'm middle aged and live in the Rocky Mtn West, but I'm a California girl at heart.  Made a living in the computer sciences before being laid off for being "a different kind of guy".

I'm more of a reader than a poster, but I've read thru the terms and rules, and will do my best to abide.  I'll save the rest for another thread.
Jami

PS
One question: I get "an error has occurred" whenever I log in.  Doing something wrong?
And, will I be required to enter anti-bot captcha's every time I post?  OK, two questions. :)

Dear Jami:

To answer your questions....

From time to time you will see that "error message" when you log in but you should be able to immediately proceed to the various threads and posts without an issue, I trust that is true for you, if not please let me know.   I get the error message myself occasionally... it appears to be a site problem, not your problem.

All brand new members have to endure captcha test initially for the first several logins.  As you keep logging in successfully and get involved in the Forums you will soon be able to skip that step.

Thank you again for joining Susan's Place and the Forums.
Best wishes to you,
Danielle

Hi Jami,
It took me a long time to admit that I'm transgender too.  When the idea hit me that I even MIGHT be trans, I was scared, completely overridden by fear for weeks.  A good gender therapist and interacting with other trans people have helped me accept myself for who I am.  Welcome to the forum!!!

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Hi Jami,  it's a pleasure to meet you. I am also a middle aged transgendered person although I didn't feel like doing anything about it until last year.  I'm glad you decided to join in the conversation.  It's the only way we can learn from each other.  I look forward to hearing more.  I'm sure you have many tales to tell.

Welcome  ^-^

Being a "different kind of person" is a requirement for Washington IT advancement. Just sayin...

At 5 I forgot who I am. Fortunately, who I am protected me all these years until I remembered. Whatever else happens, I will live the rest of my life whole.

What a great T shirt that would be "A different kind of person"   How many fit that versus the alternative?  I think different out numbers the rest.  I think that anyone involved in computer science should check out Lynn Conway's web site and see her contributions to everything we use today.  And doing transition in the bad old days.

Ok, I claim any copyright dibs to "Different Kinda Guy". :)

I read the Wiki bio on Lynn Conway.  I had no idea.  One of her books was even required reading in school.  Looking back, I now regret how singularly focused I was earlier in life.  There was a whole world out there that was beyond my awareness.   I was clueless to the clues that I was a "different kinda guy".  Thanks for sharing that!

QuoteThough I've been on an anti-androgen for a couple years now, I only recently started estrogen therapy.

I'm not far behind you.  I've been on Dutasteride for almost two years and have an appointment booked with an endocrinologist, for HRT.  It also took me a long time to realize I was trans.
I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

Started HRT April 17, 2019.

Good wishes to you on that.  I get the impression seeing an endocrinologist is an English thing?  I see my (new) primary care physician (GP), and they check levels and stuff, but nothing like a specialist would do.  Informed
Consent has its pros and cons.

I credit/blame my worsening mood on Finasteride (seems Dutasteride is an equivalent).  It was not a requirement, but the only course open to me at the time.  I went with Estradiol IM injections.  So far, so good.  Hoping that raising my E levels "levels" things out.  Slowly but surely.

It's not your ability to solve problems. As it was explained in the links you were presented with in your initial post to the site, you lack the post count for that feature to be enabled. Once you have a few more posts you will be able to respond to the PM.

Yes I did read that (Post ranks), thanks.  It said 'send'. I was hoping to be able to at least reply to PM's.  Feels like I'm being rude if I don't respond.  At least this give me another post toward my 'rank'.
cheers
