Hello my crown  is thinning and there is hair everywhere on the scalp but it is so thin it looks sparse so you can see through to my scalp.
I tried minoxidil all 2017 and 2018 but only very fine hairs grew that would not really get very long before shedding.

I have now stopped the minoxidil for about 4 weeks and the hairs are falling out.

I had my orchiectomy 2018 and went off spiro and was just on estrodial

could taking finestride with the minoxidil help me grow back thick hair?

Do you still have DHT after orciectomy?

One thing I was worried about is I don't really want my breasts to get much bigger will finestride have any effect on breast growth?

Thanks

I had GCS and a hair transplant. My hair transplant doctor recommended using Finasteride to prevent future hair loss. I told him I am taking T for sex drive,so he said to use  Dutasteride instead. It doesn't fight the T effects as much. I went to get it, but insurance didn't cover it. It isn't very expensive though so I pay for it. It seems to be working as good as I can tell. He also recommended a 'Hair Help' product of whey protein for hair growth. It is like a shake that I drink every day. It isn't so cheap, but I seem to have witnessed it having an effect. Since starting it, my eye lashes have become more prominent. It is hard to see the effect on top of my head as watching hair grow is like ...agh... like watching hair grow! I figure if my lashes grow there must be a general effect happening.
If I ever offend you, let me know. It's not what I am about.

"Plus members" of Sam's Club receive free 30-day prescription fills for Finasteride, if you do not process the pills to any insurance or third party payment program.

This is for each 30 day supply, not just the first fill.  Also, I was told that if your physician writes a 90 day script, these can easily be broken down into three 30 day pill distributions without having to contact your physician for a rewrite of the script to a 30 day version.

I'm paying $18.50 a month at Wegmans off insurance, this is great info on sams club. Too bad my local one went out of business.

To the OP, I continue to use it after gcs as a preventative measure.

It costs $100 a year, but look online, they often give a $10 or $20 gift card for upgrading to or starting a new Plus membership, plus a free cooked chicken, and a 2% end of membership year merchandise store credit for most items purchased during the membership year (given off of $500 increments of purchases) plus "free" shipping for many items.  It is a deal for me.

Costco is good too, do check both company's Web sites for their free prescription deals for the Plus members (or in Costco's case, if any, for their Executive Club members.)

I do not think the prescription drugs can be mailed though from their pharmacies.

Note that WalMart gives some free prescription fills, and no memberships are required, but I do not think they include Finasteride.  Check their Web site!

Megan.

My understanding is that while Finasteride is good at keeping what you've got, products like Regain (minoxidil) can (potentially) help with some limited regrowth.

I don't think that Finasteride will help with hair regrowth, at least not once a hair follicle has died.  It might help with growing stronger hair if a follicle is still active.  Finasteride will prevent further hair loss.
I take finasteride for a medial condition, and was informed I need to continue to take it, even after an orchi.  I don't know whether that also applies to hair loss.

I was taking Finasteride for two years after GCS, thinking that it would stop any further hair loss.  This is true if you have blood levels of Testosterone and Dihydrotestosterone that are in the male range.

A few months ago, I had my T and DHT blood levels measured. The T is in the middle of the female range and the DHT is so low, it cannot be measured, only trace amounts. I stopped taking Finasteride because there is no need to use it.

If you are considering stopping Finasteride, get your blood levels measured. This is the only way to truly see what is going on.
