Hello

Does anyone know of any good scientific articles pointing out the safety difference between oral and injectable estrogen? I need some I can print out to show my doctor because he has me on high dose oral and I want him to switch me to injectables. I am hoping that with this I can convince him to switch me to injectables. I need something that hopefully is not too huge in info so I don't have to print out too many copies and scare him away from looking at them. I really want to switch to injectables but he is hesitant about it. If anyone knows of any good scientific articles could you please share them with me? I need something that prints out of a legitimate website and not quotes from forum postings.

I don't want to trouble you further, but I was already on oral estrogen when I started seeing an endocrinologist in October, 2017. I inquired about injections early in our relationship, and it took about nine months before he would prescribe them -- because he had never done so before. I'll be going to one that does this sort of work.  However, I'll be on pills, as that's what the drug plan covers.

A person over 60 should never take oral estrogen.  It's quite risky. Hard on the liver and more likely to cause DVT.

Injectable Estradiol is relatively cheap. It will cost around $50 for a 10 week supply, using discount coupons which are readily available 

Estrogel while, is a bit more expensive, $106 / month.

The insurance doesn't offer you much advantage, since Walmart will sell generic estradiol tablets @ $10 for a 90 day supply.

I just read that you are in Canada, where injectable estrogen just isn't available except form a compounding pharmacy.  I'm not sure about patches or gel.

I'll have to see what the endocrinologist says.  That's what the informed consent is about.

I live in Canada and I am able to find injectable estrogen. I have <dosage removed> solution and I inject <dosage removed> per week. All forms of estrogen are available here and my doctor let me choose the form I want.
