Exactly what are you "supposed" to wear under a skirt? I like wearing thicker leggings as opposed to tights, but I read somewhere that leggings aren't supposed to be worn under skirts or dresses, which I thought was odd.

I hadn't heard that; but what I don't know about clothes would fill a small library.

I've worn leggings with a skirt many times. At first, I did it because I think my legs look awful; but later it was to stay warm.

I've never cared for leggings.
I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

I wore a pair of snug slacks under a skirt. A gal I worked with told me that I shouldn't (along with some other words) .. I told her I liked the look and kept on going.
I left the door open, only a few came through. such is my life.

It depends a bit on the skirt. I have two jeans skirts which I have no problem wearing leggings underneath. For all others, it'll be tights. I also only have unicolor leggings without any patterns, so they do not stick out that much.

Leggings under a skirt for me is a winter thing...

Hugs,

Sarah

At least for me, leggings under a skirt is ok only when wearing boots. I definitely would not pair leggings with even moderately dressy shoes.

But it's a free country, so do what you want to do.

When I lived in Oklahoma I never saw that.  Then I moved to Minnesota and it's very common with boots and a mid thigh to lower thigh skirt.
I've taken what others have offered, so now I'm giving back.

I just don't like having my skin exposed, so I'm trying to find a good look to wear over my legs under a skirt. The internet at large seems divided on the subject, which I think is a bit strange considering they don't actually look that different  ???. Leggings provide a bit more cover and support for the privates, which is why I've tended to prefer them. (Though I haven't worn any women's clothes in public yet.)

I think it's odd to wear leggings under skirts and dresses. Why bother? Just wear pants then.

It's warmer, especially with boots on.  It's also a cute look.

I would never wear them with a dress though.

I would never wear a skirt over jeans.

Not really.  Leggings are thicker, they don't go around your feet, they go down to the ankles and can be worn without anything over them.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Yes, the look is cute!

I love all of the colors and patterns out there!  You have so many options with boots and a few warm thick skirts.

You can come up with some fun and cute wintertime outfits by mixing and matching 💜

This is the only reason I like cold weather.

btw Colorado is one of the most beautiful places that I've ever seen. I've visited the Springs I don't know how many times. Absolutely love it.

No. Leggings are much much heavier. Heavier than tights.

Leggings are thicker than tights and can be worn on their own. Not unusual to wear them with skirts or dresses, usually for a more casual look. And also like now here in Wisconsin where the temperature wont be above zero for the next 3 days.
