My current favourite show is the second series of Vikings.  They are shown as pretty nasty characters with little regard for the lives of strangers.  It surprises me a bit as it seems more fashionable nowadays to emphasize the more peaceful ways of the Vikings, e.g. their farming, crafts and trade.  Then again, the main character, Ragnar Lothbrok (a real person who was said to have slain a dragon and whose sons conquered England) tells King Ecbert of Wessex that (in spite of all of the killing) he is really a farmer.  Also, according to the Icelandic Eddas, Vikings who did not die violently or drown would end up in the cold and dimly lit hall of Hel.  (I'm sure that many Vikings must have chosen drowning and then feasting in the hall of Ran rather than being killed every night in Odin's Valhalla.  There was also supposed to be a hall for the righteous but that must have been a later tradition, as Balder was righteous but he went to Hel.)

I am also watching the remake of Charmed.  I am a big fan of the original series but I do like the remake.  One of the sisters is a lesbian.  I do sometimes wonder whether lesbian characters are introduced for the titillation of male viewers rather than in the spirit of inclusiveness.

At the moment it's Brexit, the Crapshow. Who needs a soap opera when you've got the British government. Lol.

I really need to check out Twin Peaks. Only been meaning to for like 10 years.

There have been many TV series with charm; some have certainly stood out over the years. But after awhile most of them seem to be the same thing. I haven't watched regular TV for years. Once in a while, I hear about a standout series that has been around a while, or has even stopped production by the time I learned of it; it was that way with "Will and Grace," which I ended up liking very much in syndication.

But if I had to choose an all-time favorite, I think it would be a sitcom from the 1960s, the original "Dick Van Dyke Show," with Mary Tyler Moore, Rose Marie and Morey Amsterdam. Maybe you had to grow up in that era. It was one of those shows that quit production when they were still at the top of their game; they didn't want to become stale, drop in quality and die an ugly reputational death.

While I'm basically a movie person, I have bought several TV series over the years, including "Will and Grace" and "Are You Being Served?" But the "Dick Van Dyke Show" was the first, and my favorite.

I do like the Instinct show on CBS.   I also think the PBS travel show Rick Steves' Europe is nicely done.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

If you do check out Twin Peaks - send a comment or recommendation. I would love to know what the fuss is about after all these years.

By the way its not my favourite show but I just saw Married at First Sight. I wasnt sure whether to keep watching or poke a needle through my eye!

My fave show lately has been Australian Broadcasting Commision's " ABC News "on YouTube. An eclectic mix of very old & latest news.

I also enjoy Torque with Peter Wherett on the same show. As a side note Peter was an accomplished racecar driver and cross- dresser !

Chrissy, I grew up watching Rick Steve's Europe on PBS. I think I owe that show for my intense interest in European railways.
