So, I've been losing a lot of weight lately. I'm not on hrt yet, but I hope to be in the next couple of weeks when my package gets here  ;D. Anyway, I've been radically spiking for the last six months or so in three to five day cycles. It hasn't done anything good for my mind -- the ups, downs, but it really has changed the shape of my body in positive ways. Mostly, I'm really happy with it.

Right now, on top, I'm a solid 24 for things like shirts blouses. On bottom, skirts, pants, some underwear, etc, I'm a petite 18.

Is that normal?
Do you think I'm going to even out?

Thanks again for the insight.

Not unusual.  Women come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

Most transgenders are smaller in the hips than in the bust, even with HRT, though my hips are just a tad wider.  I carry most of my fat in my lower body.

Same here lost loads of weight and without HRT still carrying extra weight on the chest. I'm down to 164lbs (5"4') and size 10 US for jeans, panties etc but size 12US for tops and dresses. As I lose weight I see my limiting factor is my skeleton, narrow at the hips and wide at the ribs. All we have control over is weight and hope that the HRT puts the fat in the right places

YMMV but some people report that after a year or two (18 months for me) most new weight appears on the hips.

Congratulations on the weight loss.

Dear Monica:
Keep after your weight loss, that alone will improve your figure greatly,
but once you get going on HRT, that also will help reshape things more.

Exciting things to come for you, thank you for sharing...
... and I will be eagerly looking for your future updates as you feel so led to share and post.

Hugs and more hugs,

Yes - this sounds familiar....I'm a size 12 in tops but size 8 or 6 in bottoms. It's all because of my large ribcage. I just started hormones and I'm continuing to lose weight, so there's still plenty of hope for me to get a more feminine figure.

Dear Devlyn:
Well now, that sure sounds discouraging....
... but very fortunately there are many TG Girls that do achieve a decent curvy figure...
Weight loss and exercise combined with the magic HRT pills can do a lot.

Hope for the best is my motto....   Hope Springs Eternal

I am not a big fan of dresses, for exactly this reason.  As a group we tend to have proportions that dress designers don't usually design for.  Even dresses that I fit into don't usually look good on me.  Like most trans women, I have broad shoulders, and narrow hips.  And dresses tend to emphasize that "third boob" in the middle of the belly!

Mostly, I wear separates.  I take a Large in tops, and a Medium in bottoms.  I think the situation is pretty common.

It wasn't meant to be discouraging, in fact, I laugh every time he says it. He's a part-time crossdresser, and certainly lumps himself right in the bullfrog camp.  :)

A problem here in S. Korea is that TG girls should be more beautiful and slim than most cis-women. This stereotype was generated by Ha Ri Su. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harisu

Yes. I wear the US women's size 4 or juniors' size 3, and most women here envy my body shape except the boobs as I am not on HRT.

For me, I think I'm generally pretty curvy these days. Much curvier than I expected. Men's clothes, pants especially stopped fitting right a couple years ago. But really this year, it got so bad, that I ran out of options. I started wearing women's clothes (mostly jeans, shoes, and blouses) subtly but full time. They're a lot more comfortable. I still sometimes wear men's shirts because they cover up the breasts, and I'm not quite ready to come out to my incredibly nosy co-workers just yet. I think I will, though. Soon as I'm a little more stable.

Men's clothes never fit me and I aged out of boy's department.  Now that I wear women's XS clothes the world is my oyster!  Quite the change from not being able to find anything to having clothes fit perfectly off right off the rack!  I just have to check for vanity sizing, in which case it will be too big for me.

Dresses really work for me for some reason - but yeah my size is generally 1-2 sizes bigger than what my wear in pants or jeans. Clothing sizes vary so wildly.

Huh... I think I might be having the same problem. Women's sizes in general are whacky. There's a lot to remember. Nine types of sizing to keep up with, and even when you think you're getting one size, you might not be. And, on top of that, then there's european and asian sizing to contend with. Bought jeans again today. I'm down to an 18 from a 26, in a very short period of time, and I'm thrilled about it. So many more options. Still had to try everything on, though. I don't know how people successfully buy women's clothes on the internet.

I wait for stuff to be discounted at the end of the season and carefully read the reviews to get comments about the quality and sizing of the clothes.  Some sites will indicate whether clothes run small or large.  Some Chinese vendors are now listing measured sizes in one of the photos describing the item. Usually the last photo.

I buy VS stuff online to take advantage of their numerous discounts and huge selection of stuff.  If it doesn't fit there is a store nearby where I can return it.
  •

Monica

Nice. That's some solid advice. I need better stuff. Thank you. So far, I haven't tried amazon, but I think I've had mixed results on ebay. If I'm buying something in xx or xxx it's been pretty consistent. Got this amazing blouse/skirt combo there a couple weeks ago. Sexy stuff. But mostly, I've been going to places like Goodwill and Savers. Goodwill has been decent, but there's a surprisingly big local ->-bleeped-<- population, and it's probably the most obvious place to go for newbs like me. Selection varies dramatically. It's a mostly safe feeling environment too, which I really like.

The size charts of Chinese or other East Asia are substantially different from the U.S. charts. In East Asia, the women's sizes are generally for petite ones. Although I have purchased the smallest women's sizes in the U.S. (size 4 for lady, and 3 for junior), I order 'Large' in Chinese sites such as AliExpress.com, sometimes XL as I am far taller than most East Asian women (184 cm, or 6 feet). A few weeks ago, I ordered a Free-size mini-dress from AliExpress.com, finding that it was too short, even revealing my pubic area. Even for tops, I mostly order size L, sometimes XL for tight jackets.

For high heels, you have better plus 2 or 1 to your usual size when ordering from those Asian sites.

The following is the Free-size miniskirt.

And a size XL jacket for spring from AliExpress.com.
