As I am getting old, I tried some anti-aging creams or chemical exfoliators
The first one was Retinol. I purchased several packs of Retinol cream about 10 years ago, but started applying it on my face at night a few months ago. I have not yet seen any noticeable difference. Probably the concentration of Retinol is too low in the product I purchased.
The second one I started experimenting is glycolic acid. As my facial skin tends to be insensitive to any cream or medicine, I tried a 60% solution from
eBay.com, although they recommend starting with very low levels. It is very cheap as in the following photo:

I have already ordered additional 3 bottles of 70% solution, as the delivery is free.
I applied the 60% solution of glycolic acid 3 times so far, once per every week. Yes. I could feel slight prickling sensation in my face. In 5 minutes, I neutralized my face with a mixture of water and baking soda following the instruction, before rinsing with tap water. I could see a few red freckles next day, but they disappeared quickly as I applied sun cream.
So far, I feel the glycolic acid has been very effective. I can see the noticeable difference. My facial tone became brighter. I am going to continue this process of applying glycolic acid, as it is so much inexpensive. I also apply it on my finger and my butts, where unidentified chronic skin problems caused dead skin cells. I will evaluate the effect on those areas in 1 or 2 months.
Another chemical exfoliator I am curious about is salicylic acid.

Just ago, I ordered this 2 + 1 free product:
