On 5-Feb-2019 I was given the opportunity to tell a story at OUTSpoken.  The subjects of the stories people tell are as diverse as possible. Mine was highlighting some of the humorous moments in transition.

This is a 27 minute video of my story.  I'm my worst/harshest critic, so tell me honestly what you think.  Feel free to PM me so you don't break TOS. [emoji57]

Denis dear, you are an amazing woman!   I laughed myself silly.   I too was greatly moved by the film "A Fantastic Woman."   I have to admit that I am jealous of your recovery, you move so easily on the stage.  I am one day behind you and still suffering swelling and discomfort, even with a partial.   How do you do it?

I enjoyed this immensely.  Thank you so much for posting it.  Just starting the insurance process now for GCS and I'm curious how it will play out.  Will hopefully have my primary care physician make the referral for pre-authorization next week.  Did my due diligence in my search and have decided to go with Dr. Schechter, if he will have me and my insurance cooperates.  Doesn't sound like I need to start packing for my hospital stay anytime soon.

This talk was in the biggest gay bar in Chicago.  The audience was 100% LGBTQA.  A bunch of the ciswomen came up afterwards and were telling me they had no idea of the stuff we go through.

I give talks like this all the time and this one was the hardest.  The audience was already well educated so I didn't know if it would be boring.  Apparently not boring.

Oh, my!  @Denise, Laurie and I sat here and watched that video on the big screen.

First, well done!  That was something you can be proud of.

Second...  Unpacking Day!  Oh, yeah!  Nurse Chris's version of the Handkerchief Trick!  They had me take a Norco about 45 minutes before the Big Event, when the two labial drains were pulled and the packing was removed.

I'm another one of those 'planners', with a calendar stuffed full of appointments, when to swap patches, and maintenance stuff.  Laurie, on the other hand, is allergic to planning, which I predict will make her life VERY interesting.
Earth my body, water my blood, air my breath and fire my spirit.

My personal transition path included medical changes.  The path others take may require no medical intervention, or different care.  We each find our own path. I provide these dates for the curious.

Denise,

Thanks for posting the youtube video.  I loved it.  Very funny but also it was great to give us a piece from your life.

Denise,

I just loved your video. I also appreciate my choice of getting a shallow GCS and thus avoid that fine unpacking experience. Well done, you did good girl!

Denise a great video!  You did real well in presentation.  Thanks!
But now old friends they're acting strange

Thank you all for the kind words.

@anne_blake please don't let 30 seconds of sensory overload on my part sway a decision that's life long.  You can stand anything for a known period of time.

My dad once told me that if I didn't like something, specifically a job, wait 6 months.  If it's not better, look elsewhere.  It works for so much in life.
