As of the first week of April I will be permanently homeless. Parents got completely fed up with me living at home and working low paying jobs for too long and have given me notice to get out back on the last week of February.  Not sure what I'm exactly going to do after discussing with close friends and looking at all available options I'm looking at living in the homeless shelter in Nashville and not the good one either since I am too old to stay at the only lgbt shelter there. So yeah this is the situation I'm in now. Wish me luck I guess.

That's terrible, Emily.  One thing I have heard over and over again is how much more financially difficult survival is for openly trans women.  Have you considered taking what you do for work and looking at options for that work in other areas?  I know that people in service jobs often take work on cruise ships for a period (they really suck bad) because it keeps them working and eliminates their housing problem for a period allowing them to sort of nest egg their way into a more stable life.  Also, if you dont make much but you have some employment maybe looking for younger people to room with might help.  If you pack together with 4 other people it might be easier to pay for a lower end apartment or something.  I dont really know anything about your overall situation so i'm just speculating and i know Tennessee isnt the most booming economy in the country but these are just some thoughts.  It sucks that you have to go through that though.  First and foremost try to stay safe, shelters can be tricky and there's no easy answers there. hugs.

I hope that it somehow works out OK.  I have heard of parents being angry with their children if they do not try to find work but I am flabbergasted that they could be angry about their children having lowly paid work.  You deserve better treatment and I hope that someone can help.
