I'm Mikaela.
I've been reading as guest for some time but now I feel it's time to jump in...

Still not out as of yet, terrified actually.
I've been in denial and suppressing the truth pretty much since high school.
Finally, just arriving at my 48th birthday I couldn't do it the way I've always done it any longer.
So, I've sought the necessary help and will begin HRT in the upcoming weeks.
What i can say for certain is that I'm so glad I found this place. I just don't have too much support on the home front as of yet. A couple of ex-girlfriends who had a feeling about me all along but that's pretty much it. I'm so grateful for their support.

I hope to continue to gain knowledge and draw strength from all of you on here.

Hello Mikaela, congratulations on making a choice in your life which takes you one step closer to becoming the "true you".  Time moves forward in complete disregard but it's never too late to transition.  There are people of all ages making these same changes in their life.  You have likely realized that this change will not happen without you taking the first step forward.  This is a huge milestone in your life.  I wish you the very best on your journey and hope you find all the support you need to get to the next milestone.
