Anyone?

I did last week, just because I felt like I wanted a break. Additionally, I had felt the tell-tell signs of impending illness coming and sure enough, I was sick pretty much all week. So the illness wasn't related to the HRT stop, but I am now experiencing other things that have me wondering what to do.

So for sure, I've been one moody individual. My brain is feeling like an old-time TV test pattern/snow screen, and my demeanor and outlook is not cheerful at the moment, to say the least. I am also sitting here with a paper to write and have absolutely zero engagement with it all....either from a writer's perspective or just a feeling of giving a damn. Also every little grievance or annoyance is magnified by about a million.

Secondly, and this one is a bit gross, but I have been experiencing super overheating at night....to the point that I am waking up sweating buckets. Literally, I am dripping with sweat and if I am wearing a shirt it is soaked through, and if not, then I have to find a shirt or a towel and dry off. Super gross, super annoying, and becoming frustrating as it is waking my up 2-3 times a night.

So, I get the mood thing...sure I can swing into a depressive state from time to time, and the sudden shift in medication may be playing a part in that. The sweats? Not sure if related to the illness, which has passed so tonight will be the big test if it happens again, or if indeed there is something related to the meds here too.

So anyone else suddenly up and quick taking your HRT? What were your experiences?

Dropping off HRT and getting back on it in short timeframes can be bad for mental and physical stability. Going off estrogen is like going off opiate medication there is a period of withdrawal. Also within 1 month the endocrine system tries to compensate but may not settle down for 6 months.
To go on HRT or go off HRT a wholistic plan is good to have. Your endo should know what is going on
6 month timeframe is better than days or weeks if HRT must be stopped or started.

I have been through this, Kirsten.

Mattie,

Your symptoms sound just like a cis-woman's menopause symptoms.

Some of us are just meant to be on Estradiol.

Kristen.....thank you so much for your reply. That is some great information you have, I really appreciate you sharing that. I have never dealt with an endo, I simply told my general one day that I would basically like to go on HRT and he said "ok". So I've been doing my lab work and follow-ups with him ever since. I've always thought that was both strange and pretty cool.....given the difficulty so many have even getting HRT, I honestly felt pretty lucky that it worked out that way.

Dani.....I agree! Moment of full disclosure/pulling back the curtain....my illness this past week was a really nasty UTI. I've never had a UTI in my life, I just thought I maybe had the flu at first. Additionally, I was traveling, so I didn't see a doctor until I was already a couple days in....needless to say the fever and pain associated with such an infection will not leave my memory for a long time! So when you mention the symptoms of menopause, I had to laugh. I had the same thought.....here I am, on HRT, and now I'm getting a UTI and hot flashes! lol....obviously not related, but funny to me anyway.

Well I went back on my HRT this week, after a nightmare weekend of feeling completely mental (head in total fog) and night sweats like I've never experienced before. The result? I'm back to feeling relatively normal again. My brain literally feels clearer and not as jumbled and I had one tiny sweat last night, so we'll see what tonight has in store.

Although I am fully coming around from my illness last week, I have to say, I'm pretty sure being back on HRT has really made a difference that isn't all just related to being sick.

Cold Turkey isn't a good idea with ANY medication.
