so...are you sayimg it's Ok to be a bastard so long as one succeeds in one's selfish schemes?

Of course not, but the secret is, win, and you get to edit out all the nasty bits ... except of course if you happen to have a poet-king overcome by guilt at his part in it, condemned to face all manner of dangers on the way home by a vengeful patron deity, end up writing about all the nasty goings on...

The truth will out, it seems ... we hope ...

On another board I've been ranted at by 4 extremely right wing americans who say that the nuclear bomb was the most humane act there was, for stopping the war. Maybe a Trojan Horse argument could be similar.

The most humane way of ending the trojan war would be for the greeks to pack up and go home.

2nd humane thing would be for troy to lay down it's arms and let the jerks in.

Americans who think the bomb is humane are jerks

Yeah, but they the trojans were failures.  Their city fell.  And was properly sacked, as it should be.

But those who got away went on to found Rome, at least if you trust Virgil. Later on, of course, the Romans conquered all Greece, so perhaps the fall of Troy was just a temporary setback.

As the father of a draft-age son, I'd even say that Americans who think select service is a good idea are jerks. Let those who cry the loudest for war be on the front lines fighting it, regardless of age, sex, gender, experience, or ability.

There, now that I've cleared my colon I feel better.

AMEN to that!  Dubya and Cheney ought to be on the front lines.  I'd like to point out that (hopefully) most Americans do not favor the war...just the loudest ones.

Nice puns.  :icon_eyebrow:
