I am being more aware I need a name to use beside my given name.
This seems like a daunting task.
Pick one you like.
One you will remember to respond to.
Not the same as someone you know, so others do not think you prefer the person over others.
Should it be close to, or a feminized version of your birth name.
Maybe a gender neutral name as I think I want to appear more androgynous.

So any suggestions and/or advice.

One I have thought about is Timmie, as my given name is Timothy.
Or Terrie, as being related to earth or ground, and my body being a earthling.

I am also on the Autism Spectrum, so my way of thinking, seeing things can be skewed for others.

One thing to keep in mind is what are you needing or wanting in the name. What gender does the name need to be? Does it need to be something that can be both? Secondly, you need to find a name you like that fits you. Once you have picked one out, you may want to try it out for a bit and see what you think. The name you choose is something that once you make it legal your going to be stuck with. So you do want it to be a name your going to be able live with both personally and professionally. Try to pick something that feels natural. Write it down, have people call you by that name and try it out before you decide.

I've actually already moved on from Luna to something more natural for me. I still like Luna but I guess it doesn't quite feel like me

I've seen this question asked by many trans people who are considering changing their name.

I think the best name is one that reflects both who you are and who you want to become -- one that describes you and inspires you.

I discovered I was a woman late in life, so I had a rich reading and viewing history to draw upon. I chose names (first, middle) of fictional characters with whom I had identified, and who were images of people I wanted to be. I think a name should both fit you, and fit whom you want to become. It may sound paradoxical, but when you find a name like that you'll know.

I started with a feminized version of my given name but in a few months it became apparent that would not work for me.  I then picked something that I thought was cute and was much happier.

Everyone's name process is different. 

I wanted a name that was unambiguously feminine and that was "normal" for my generation.  My handwriting is terrible, so I wanted one that would not require me to change my signature too much.  (Weird requirement, I know!)  My old name was Keith, so I chose Kathy.  I picked the nickname first and decided later whether it would be Katherine or Kathleen.  I went with Kathleen.  I liked that Keith (Scottish) and Kathleen (Irish) are both Celtic in origin, reflecting my ethnic heritage.

My middle name, Lauren, is a feminine version of my old middle name, Lawrence.

Timmie is nice. Cute and androgynously handy.

I made a list of age appropriate names that I liked... then tried them out in front of the mirror and talking aloud to myself when in private. I didn't want any reminder of the name given to me at birth because I get upset that I still have to use it.

I then narrowed down my list with the help of people on Susans... and got it down to 2 names: Jenny or Alice. I decided that Jenny sounded too close to my mother's name (Jane), so went with Alice. The other name I love is Skye but it was too close to my daughter's name, so I gave it to myself as a second name. However, if my family reject me when I eventually come out, I will take it as my surname.

It is a personal thing, so give it some thought. When I made my list I thought about people in my classes when I was at school, songs I liked, celebrities I liked, fictional characters I could relate to... and so on. I added Alice to my list because I like the song by Shinedown 'Her name is Alice' and there were lots of passages in the book 'Adventures of Alice in Wonderland' when I was reading it to my daughter that I could relate to.

The one thing I would recommend though is once you decide a name, google it with your surname and see what kind of person comes up. My parents were going to call me Lucy had I been born correctly, but when I googled Lucy Skye, I got a porn star...

I chose a different name than Rachel originally. I was out to 12 or so people including HR and my boss at work. When I heard them say Cynthia it was just was not me. I am Rachel. When I told them I changed my name again their faces were priceless.

I love the name Rachel and it fits me perfectly. I hope you can find a name that you love and fits you perfectly.
