"He's assumed that, as a newspaper columnist, he's
smarter and more knowledgeable than physicians, psychiatrists,
psychologists, and therapists that identify the transsexual experience
isn't a merely a cultural phenomena, but a treatable condition with a
widely accepted standard of care. Call his claim what it is: if a
newspaper columnist declared that schizophrenia, autism, or HIV/AIDS
aren't real medical conditions, his paper wouldn't publish it. But
make it about transgender people and/or GID and a Paul Cameron-ish
take on transgender people was accepted for publication."
