I do have a few electrics and a few acoustics and a couple of basses and a drum kit and yes, most of them are professional quality instruments

Yes we are aware of the name change for Keisel. I've been to the Carvin factory in Escondido (when it was Carvin), my soul mate just went to the new Keisel factory showroom this past winter when she was down in CA visiting her Mom. They make really nice guitars, and she is always coming up to me with her laptop showing me her latest desires with them (she has been learning to play Bass recently).

If I get another 7-string, I'll probably get a Hellraiser 7 (I'd like to get an 8-string, but you can't get Ernie Ball Cobalts  for 8-string guitars).  I that only thing that's keeping me from doing so is my general fatigue for Superstrats.  I will admit that I preferred the neck on my last 7-string Schecter (an Omen Extreme 7) to the neck my PRS 7 had - it was chunker.

I had similar issues with allergies, albeit not quite as bad. I'm allergic to the coating found in most extended range string packs. Fortunately DR strings don't cause a problem for me, but it just means I need to special order a $40 pack of strings when it comes to restringing my eight string.

Ooh! Some mighty cool axes you have!      I'd love to have an 8-string (to let out my inner Meshugga, or play "Designing The Enemy" by Fear Factory), but Ernie Ball doesn't make Cobalts for 8-string, and I'm not a big fan of coated strings (especially since if the coating wears off, you're left with your fingers contacting the nickel string underneath).  So ONE OF THESE DAYS, I'll replace the PRS SE Seven, 7-string that was sacrificed in the name of refretting my Taylor 12-string (oh well, I didn't like the relatively thin neck my PRS had - I play classical style with the thumb behind the neck, and thin necks make my hand feel like it's trying to act like a C-clamp on the neck). 

Some of my old 7-strings:

Schecter Jazz 7 (relatively rare) - I love the sound of semi-hollows at high gain, they're soo throaty IMO


Schecter Omen Extreme 7


Danelectro MOD 7 (a cool guitar, with a weird pickup selection/switching system)


Maybe I'll get another Jazz 7 (if I can find one again - Schecter only made them in 2000)

How cool ! and thanks for chiming in here V M and always nice to meet another lefty  Yeah, I learned all the scales / chord patterns in that direction (right strung), it seemed logical to my mind to have the lowest string on the bottom  so later I had those Carvins made for me at their factory with lefty cut away bodies. They were always good to me, and I worked with them in person for both orders, (we have family in the area).

When I saw Cassie's drum kit, I thought I'd add an image of one of the fun stages I've played at. This stage was setup out on private land in the Cascades mountains, and hosted a private music gathering. The sound was totally fabulous playing to the trees and meadow that day (and a couple of hundred music types). I played in several different line up's that day, we had a "build a band" round robin going. Everyone would sign up for a song and their instrument, then go up and "do it", it was a lot of fun....

Low notes on the low strings! I don't play much but that always seemed so wrong.  Love this thread and your semi daily one.  Your transition is amazing!  Have you ever considered gels rather then patches?  Its a daily thing and the levels seem to be even...  Or whatever the proper term is.

How do you like the shorter 25" scale of the ARZ307?  I'm so "mehed' out most of the time by Superstrats (even 7 & 8 string ones), that I'm always looking for alternatives.  The ARZ was on my list for a while, but I was concerned  about it having the typical Wizard profile neck that Ibby 7-strings have (and I can't stand Wizard necks - they feel like I'm playing a 2X4).  Does it have a wizard neck?

As for your 8-string - yeah, getting tuners (especially for an 8-string) are a real bear.  In some ways, it's on a par with me getting 8-string sets, due to my dermatitis issue.  As I've mentioned before, due to nickel and stainless steel allergies that give me serious dermatitis, I use Ernie Ball Cobalts.  Unfortunately, I can't get Cobalt 8-string sets.  I thought I could get around the issue by using a Cobalt bass string for the 8th string (along with Cobalt 7-string set), but both the responses to an inquiry thread I created on the Seven String Guitar Forum (my username there is EllenGtrGrl - short for Ellen Guitar Girl) and e-mail inquiry to Ernie Ball said that it really isn't a doable option, due to the fact that the core on a bass string is different than the core on a guitar string, and as a result the bass string has different tension than a comparable gauge guitar string, and would not fit right on the tuner for the 8th string.  Oh well, no 8-string guitar for me I guess.
