Hello,

May 7th 2019 was my 6 month birthday of starting Estradiol, and just over 3 months on T-blockers. Of the many changes that have happened to me physically (34aa boobs, losing 1.5 shoe sizes, fat redistribution in my face, etc..), losing 24 lbs between November 2018 and March 2019 was one that I was glad for. Unfortunately I lost my job at the end of March, and I gained 8lbs back in 4 weeks (no...I am not depressed. What made you ask?), but I really could not figure out how. I mean I got a bit of a tummy, but not enough to account for 8lbs
Day before yesterday I realized I had been lax in doing laundry: I was out of underwear. I thought I would just grab one of my sets of boxer briefs that I wore before I started to transition. Putting them on, I figured out where the weight went when the clothing article that should have been rather loose molded to my thighs and butt like spandex.

Disaster was avoided when I remembered I had a basket of unfolded clothes, so I was not required to wear them for long. Changing into the pair of medium brief cut panties, I ran my fingers along the leg bands to adjust them. As they snapped into place, it put a smile on my face for the rest of the day:

Best 8lb's ever!

You started Estradiol before blockers?

I know about the male underwear thing.  It's been so long since I've worn them that by the time I got around to tossing my last pairs, they were falling apart from age.  I don't recall the last time I wore them, but it's well over 25 years.  For many years, I wore panties with stockings & garter belt, but after my favourite line of stockings was discontinued, I switched to pantyhose and they are now the only underwear I wear.  By that time, my panties and garter belts were getting beat up anyway.
I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

I did, too!  What is so unusual about this?  It seems to be pretty normal to start out on a low dose of estrogen, and later testosterone blockers are added to this.  I am glad that it was this way for me, because I had a hard time with Spironolactone.  I took i for a few weeks only, and had an orchiectomy after this.

I love this post.  I love how we get excited to gain weight as long as it's in the right places.  :-).

I would have thought the blockers would be started right away, to allow the estrogen maximum effect.  As mentioned elsewhere, I've been on dutasteride for a couple of years, so I didn't have to worry about taking blockers.

Yep.  It looks like I may soon have to go bra shopping!   :)

I did start estradiol before blockers. My obgyn gave me options, which I was already fairly read up on. I elected to start Estradiol for a period of 3 months without t-blockers for the following reasons:

1) 3 months of Estra would give me the opportunity to discover what effect it would have on me emotionally. It would also give me some time to decide if this was a path I wished to walk. 90 days is rarely enough time for permanent changes to take place giving me time to make an informed choice.

2) Sometimes having cis female level of estrogen will automatically drop testosterone levels. If that were to happen to me, t-blockers might have been avoided. At a minimum, an accurate dose could be determined.

3) Lastly, (and this was a tidbit of information my obgyn shared with me I was unaware of) I was informed that if after 3 months I had cis male levels of testosterone in my system and cis female levels of estrogen at the same time, starting T-blockers would drop my t-levels allowing the estrogen to hit me like a broken dam worth of water. I would experience something very close to puberty 2.0, just from the female perspective.

That last bit sold me. Was I mildly disappointed at times in the first 90 days? yep. Have I been very happy with the decision? Yep! I have gone from less than 1 inch to 4 inches of bust in 14 weeks. Other changes in my face, thighs, butt, and feet (some more noticeable than others, as this thread shows) have also apparently accelerated.

YMMV of course. I liked having the 90 day "free" trial to decide. Getting to blast off into a whole new range of feelings and emotions and changes at the end was the best return on delayed gratification ever for me personally.

Cheers,

Ricki

(edit: Changed timeline as I realized I started t-blockers at the beginning of Feb instead of the end.) Also, my story is in my signature if you wish to know more about my journey. :)

Hi Ricki,

Wow!  3 inches of bust in 10 weeks!  Bring on the chocolate and ice cream!

Sorry about you losing the job but finding  yourself is way more important.

Yeah, about that. I had to correct my post to 14 weeks. Estradiol + advanced years is not doing favors to my memory at times :p

The job hunt continues. Thank you for your kind words.
