My politics are fairly radical at the moment, which I say as a fair warning.
The bill in questions makes me go reread 'ten stages of genocide', which can be found here-
https://www.hmd.org.uk/learn-about-the-holocaust-and-genocides/what-is-genocide/the-ten-stages-of-genocide/Looking objectively, how many of the criteria are fully or partially met? I leave it as a matter of conscience. My understanding is WWII, nazi-style death camps are rare among genocides. Historically, genocide has taken the form of sanctioned violence. Whatever I believe, I am not yet ready to imagine death camps in America. I can imagine a kind of don't-care violence, along the lines of pre-civil rights movement lynchings. I say that with a very heavy heart and much sadness.
I wish the president or other national democratic figures would regularly and forcefully denounce all anti-trans legislation. I evaluate their support as luke warm on a good day. Again, this is all hugely personal and this is my opinion. I fault no one for different views and opinions.
I am watching every local election and participating in the political process fully. While I live in the bubble called Massachusetts, which is held to be a 'safe state', I am also aware their were 23 attempted book bannings last year. Because a book banning here would be national news. It has never been more important to understand local elections down to the level of the school board.
sigh. food for thought on a sunday.
