Yes 100% the Soviets blew it up with the hydrogen bomb in the 60s in a fit of rage after the US beat them to the moon landing. The US government now maintains a series of reflective mirrors to reflect the light back to earth. The regular eclipses is just the government going to clean the mirrors.

My own personal conspiracy theory

The first WWTBAM ( who wants to be a millionaire) winner was fixed and told the answers.

Let's look at some certain facts
Camellia was already seeing royalty ( the then prince Charles who is now king )
BBC1 was showing the final ever episode of one foot in the grave.

Both were on at 21:00pm and finished at 22:00pm

So it was fixed to get more ratings then BBC1.

Air travel isn't real because it actually uses a series of underground tunnels dug by giant mole people. What you think is flight is entirely simulated.

This is all covered up because in return for the use of their subterranean network the mole people get to keep the contents of 1 out of a 1000 planes. And yes, that does include the people....
