Yeah that's a guy whose never going to get any respect.  I'm not all that sure, given what he could really do, that he didn't do all he could.  He had no power behind him, no way to force any other possible outcome, he was negotiating out of weakness not strength and everyone knew it.  He goes to meet Hitler with no threat was like sending someone to a gun fight with a steak knife. 

He could have used martial arts to kill hitler, or at least break hitler's jaw so he couldn't give anyone any orders.

Doing special opps missions in ww2, capturing the enigma machine - all sounds fun.
