I have read some puzzling data here from some of the other ladies about what sizes they wear. I want to gather more data on body types to make sense of the sizes that fit us.

My weight: 171# (77.5 kg)
Height: 5'10" (178 cm)
Waist: 34.5" (87.6 cm)
Dress size: US Misses 14? or L? (or might it be 12 and M now?)

I weighed 171 yesterday, though that has been going steadily downward since I've been on a diet the past two months, and have just dropped about 17 pounds in that time. My next weigh-in should be even less as the trend continues. So my size probably ought to be changing too. My height is 5'10", which means my BMI is now down into the normal range, overweight no more. :)

My dress size has been 14 for over a year, but size 14 or L fit me before I began dieting. The last time I bought clothes, a couple weeks ago, I got a size M skirt at Coldwater Creek and it's kind of snug but still fits me OK. Last winter, though, before I started dieting, I weighed in the upper 180s and size L in another Coldwater Creek skirt was too big on me, so I got M. So it's hard to know what to expect from them until you try it on.

Anyway, my size 14 dresses still fit me pretty well. But I had a skirt suit tailored to my measurements last fall when I was a fatty and now the skirt needs to be taken in at the waist. My waist has gone down from 37 to 34.5 or less by now. I started dieting because I wanted to become able to zip into a special slinky dress for a ball the other week, which I was too big for when I got it (even though the label said L), so after taking off enough pounds I fit it nicely in time for the ball. :)

I'm amazed at the sylphs and pixies around here who say they have similar height and weight as me, but wear teeny tiny sizes in the single digits. I just want to know--how do you do it?

LOL... I'd love to be a pixie... and some day I plan to be. :)

I started the middle of last summer cutting back on calories, I set a goal to get to 160lbs before I would let myself start HRT.
I had gotten pretty big and I've worn a size 32 mens jean and weighed 185 for the last few years. Most of my fat was
typical male abdomen/chest/back fat.  I never had a beer belly but I was round. I dropped 25 pounds and I still had a
small belly at 160 but that has magically moved to my thighs and rear and my tummy is flat now even though I've only
lost another 5 pounds. I've worked really hard to maintain lower body muscle and strength but have not trained my
upper body at all. I bicycle and weight train the lower body by mostly doing squats.

But how is my size so different than yours at 5-10? I think your bone structure is just larger. You have similar "meat"
on your frame but it's just spread over a larger area. My wrists are 6.25 which I think translates to a mens small frame.
I know my under bust measurement is 34.5"... about the size of your waist and my waist is down to just over 30".
I recently had to move to a mens small shirt from the muscle loss. Most people can gauge their frame size based on how
much they weighed when they reached their maximum height... I was 15 when I reached 5-10 and I weighed just over
115 lbs... and I wore a 26" jeans that's pretty small for a male. Three years after that and after a lot of muscle
development I weighed 130 lbs and wore a size 27" jeans. I did not get to 30" until I was around 35 and that
is when I went from around 150 pounds to 185.

I've always been an exerciser and prior to my weight loss I was riding about 100 miles a week on my road bike but I was
eating easily 3500-4500 calories a day. But it was fairly good calories, no sweets and I watched the carbs.
And even at 185 I had a fairly low body fat percentage. All I had to do was  reduce my calories to a more reasonable
number and watch the  protein and carbs and I lost 25 pounds over about 6 months. I'm still really muscular :( (only 3 mo HRT) up
top and muscle weighs a lot more than fat but takes up less space.

I think I've said in other threads... weight and height are not things I worry about as far a passing... face, nose, body shape
are and I can't change those without surgery. I plan to get to drop my weight to around 135 or so and I can do that myself...
everything else costs money.

I'm not going to leave this photo up for long but here is me at 155... not very female looking at all but you can see how
big my thighs are... there is a LOT of muscle under the female type layer of fat that makes them more rounded. I
wish I had before pics... the transformation is amazing.

Picture removed for privacy reasons :)

I'm not sure if any of this will help but there ya go :)

Berliegh dear...  you will not upset me by saying things like that... I get that you
do not agree with a lot I have to say but I'm going to say them and I'm not
going anywhere :)

And... it's all relative... before it was a very muscular defined bloke lol... now it's a softly padded
bloke... and it makes me happy... self acceptance is wonderful, if I could just get to that
point in other areas I'd be a happy girl :)

I see where you are coming from Amanda.........I didn't see any photographs of you from your past. If you had pic that looked like a girls butt and hips I would definitely say wow!

All I know I'm constantly fighting to try and get some kind a female fat distribution and not succeeding. I wasn't wanting to be critical of you , more the frustration of the whole transitional process...

I understand completely Berliegh, but I feel like it's being critical and I hope you understand when
I react to that. I'm glad to have your experience around and I totally share your frustration. :)

Unfortunitely in forums you not allowed to see things as they really are or say what you really see....and it's a constant battle to put something across which isn't meant to be critical but at the same time it is what you actually see. My friend who is another TS rips me apart on a regular basis and I used to think she was an awful ** but she is usually absolutely right and puts my feet on the ground and points out the things that are really not working with me. We have a tendancy to say 'oh you look amazing darling to each other' but we know that's not really true. I don't like being negative but at the same time I find it hard not to say what I see....

If I posted a pic of my lower body and someone said 'you look like a bloke' I'd say your right so what can I do about it....I have no dillusions which becomes a headache for my endocrinologist...

Hi I thought I would chime in, as I have been on hormones for 7 months now & have been going FT as of a couple of weeks ago.  I have been slowly building my wardrobe trying to find what works best for me & my body type.  It definitely takes time to figure out your OWN style void of your family & friend's opinions.  For instance, my mother & sister are much more conservative in alot of the clothing they wear than I am, however we have different body types as females so we can't all have the same style.  Clothing shouldn't be your identity but let's face it in 2008 your image & how you dress & portray yourself to the world is quite important.  I have always loved fashion it allows you to express yourself and enhance who you are as a person.

My stats are as follows:
***Height:5'8.5 feet (Used to be just over 5'9 about 2 years ago...now for some reason I have measured numerous times & I'm 5'8.5 - maybe I'm shrinking  :o fine by me!)
***Weight: 155 - 160 depending on if I am working out a couple days a week (don't step on the scale often)
***Waist: 27.5 inches
***Bust: 34.5 inches (still an A-cup at this stage)
***Hips: 41 inches
***Shoe Size: 10 US (sometimes 11US in certain styles/makes)
***Dress Size: 6, 8 (sometimes 10 if it's snug in the backside area)

<img src="http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/7/hpim2829cropyv0.jpg">
{Here is a recent pic - I was just trying clothes on - wasn't going anywhere so the look is not complete...the only thing about this pic I dislike is it makes my small boobs look even more non-existent :P}

I have a pretty curvy figure so I have to be catious of certain fashion "do's" & "dont's" but it's ok because I think the female figure is gorgeous.  I have always been attracted to males sexually, never towards females but I appreciate the beauty of curvy women.  I think the waif thin model look is so un-feminine & unattractive.  Very few men I have encountered in my life prefer thin girls over those with a curvy, womanly figure.  The funny thing is that I had this basic figure before I ever started HRT.  I have had it all my life.  As a young child I was kinda chubby but I grew up my bottom half stayed larger than the top half and I was never an atheletic type to play any sports or anything.  HRT has helped me gain an inch or so in my hips & loose an inch or so in my waist.  That's about it so far.

Finding clothes can sometimes be challenging because I'm two totally different sizes on the bottom & top.  I just usually go for things that are gathered tightly at the waist.  Once my bust grows a little more or I opt for breast augmentation down the road, empire waist tops & dresses will be becoming on me.  At this time they look slightly awkard with only an A-cup.  Suprisingly I have found it MUCH easier to find dressy clothes & looks.  Finding "everyday wear" has presented more of a challenge.  But that again is ok because my career tends to be a "dressier" one.

I'm interested to know more people's measurements/stats & clothing options.

Height: 5'11" - ugh I wish I wasn't so tall!!!!
Weight: 145 - which looks GREAT on my height and body stature =] I am really happy with my weight.
Waist: 30" - again, I am really happy with this.. looks good with my body stature.
Shoe Size: Male size 11..
Size: 5
Ring Finger: 7 1/2 - My hands are actually compliment the rest of my body, and don't really make me stand out..

Overall I am happy with my body stature, as I have said a couple of times. I mean, sure there are areas that I wish were a little different. But I must accept the fact that at the moment only so much can be done. I hope that this helps to some degree =]

Oh, and sense I really have not gotten the chance to show these off to anyone.. heres my new undies, showing a bit of my hips for you ladies.. well, maybe more of my butt, but nonetheless I think they are adorable!  :D

Well... I did not say that but I agree 100% :) But I'm also just 3 months in... I have a lot of nice changes to come so I'm not
ready to think it's not going to work wonders for me :)

I agree... I appreciate the beauty of curvy women too :) ... for me I think I HAVE to lose all the boy fat and muscle and
build from there. You have amazing measurements that I'd love to have.

Thanks Amanda for the compliment.  I guess we all have our "positive" & "negative" traits as far as passing & presenting female is concerened! I'm sure we'd all love to pick & choose certain attributes but then we'd all be perfect & that doesn't exist unfortunately!  :)

Any one else care to share there measurements/sizes, etc?

(BTW I finally figured out how to post pics & put one in my original post above)

Since I've slimmed down, I now have a waist-hip ratio of .84 -- which is in the high female range, but well below the male range, so that's very encouraging progress. Combined with the 38C bras I wear, it means I finally have curves! And believe me, I wear the outfits that make sure everyone knows it. I used to be mocked for my body being straight up and down--guess I showed them!  ;D Living well is the best revenge.

mclova84, your WHR is really excellent, I hope I can get a figure like yours if I keep dieting and taking E. My hips are 41" too.

I just did the math on mine (ugh I hate math!!!) and my WHR is .83 - which is VERY encouraging for me as well! Granted it is high in the female range like you said, it still means I am well under way! Thank you for giving me the idea to figure that out

I just wanted to say even without seeing your before pictures I think you look great!!! Just give it a little bit of time on the HRT and I am sure you will be even more satisfied with your results! Also - I just wanted to say that I am the same way. Its not really my height or weight that concerns me.. its my facial features mostly.. My nose, mainly.. I just need to come up with the money and wait my time out to get it done! Your BEAUTIFUL tho hun so no worries!

I like yer knickers chelsea - just bought an album by a band called candypants, and that's pretty much what they seem.
The dress I played around with was a UK20 (US16), seemed to fit nice. Think I may even have some hips naturally - I'd like less of a stomach and an actual waist, so my macho girlfriend (imaginary as yet) can put her arms round it. But it's not like I'm doing anything to achieve that, I'm far too busy.

Wow mclova84... I just saw the picture... you have a very nice figure... I'm SO jealous... lol.

Can I ask how old you are and how long you've been on HRT? Did you use a corset to
get the thin waist or have you always had a small waist? I would do just about anything
to get to your shape :) :)

Hypatia... do you not think it could be the size of your skeletal frame?

You may be big boned... but your hips are SO feminine.... mine are ... well... guy hips... I have
none. You may be bigger but your hip to waist ratio is almost perfect at .84. I'd trade
hips for skinny any day. :)
