I've encountered your stinging nettles, Davina. They're almost as bad as our poison ivy. I made the mistake of grabbing some to steady myself on a slippery bank.

Poison ivy/oak sucks. I've been super allergic to it all my life. I did find that a product called Zanfel worked very good. It takes the itch away almost right away, and starts healing. You must follow the directions exactly and no short cuts but it works! It washes off the urushiol oil that causes the reaction. If I remember right its in 2 parts and must be mixed for 5 min before using. Trust me it works and you can use it with any meds as its a wash. Baby power sometimes helps a little on genital's. I hope this helps.     "LEAVES OF 3, LEAVE IT BE !"

It is always good to know your plants, especially ones to avoid.

My grandfather told me a story about a time when he was fishing along a remote lakeshore. He suddenly needed to go to the bathroom, so hiked a short distance up into the woods. He had nothing to use for toilet paper so looked around him. There was a plant with nice velvety leaves that would work perfectly. It turned out to be a nettle of some sort. Velvety on top, nettly underneath. He said the pain was excruciating and ran with his pants down and dove into the lake.

He warned me, "Don't do that. Water makes it five times worse!"

I carry a bit of TP with me everywhere. In my purse, in my car, in my backpack.

I sprayed some poison ivy this week.  Bad stuff for many, it is!

Gina thanks for the poison ivy tip.  I just ordered Zanfel for that "just in case I am stupid enough to pull out a poison ivy plant by hand" in the future.  Fortunately, the steroids are doing their job and the itching has stopped.

It's good to get some sleep finally.

I am planning a transgender cruise on the Queen Mary trans Atlantic (note the pun) cruise (May 5) I was planning alone but I thought "What the hell?" and share. The inside cabins are cheap. It would be cool to finally be together.

Emma1017

Going transatlantic is on my bucket list.  My wife  refuses to go.  I am thinking it would be really cool if we did the cruise, seven days of spas and friendship.  How about showing up for formal night in a gown (rentable). I am looking at the seven day cruise from NYC to Southampton on QM2 May 5.   We can connect with our sisters in Europe or at the least the UK.

Imagine us let loose finally.  We are getting older.  Now or never.

Please let me know your thoughts. I love this community and I wish we could just be be together for each other and celebrate being transgender AND just being US!

Davina if I win the Lottery, I've got you covered.  The cruise would be epic.

Sounds like a really great cruise. I've always dreaded the thought of being confined to a ship with a bunch of people I don't feel comfortable with but a transgender cruise sounds great. If I had the money I would join you and visit Davina at the end.

Emma,

I love my cruises that I have taken since my retirement. I would love to go on the cruise with you but I am already booked a transatlantic cruise earlier in the year. I leave from Miami for Portugal and Spain before ending in London. It is a 13 day cruise.

Gina, like I said to Davina, I will play the lottery with a new purpose...to get everyone on the ship.

Ellen I am so jealous.  Since my wife is not going I had to pick the shortest cruise which is the seven day one on the QE2 which conveniently leaves from NYC.  Have a great time!

LOL! Most of what he said was true. Apart from Wetherspoons. Avoid that stuff like the plague. Unless you're a tourist on a budget.

It's true though, that the more north you go, the friendlier the people are. I am a northern lass and I take great pride in that. Everyone always greets you with a "good morning" etc. People down south seem to literally hate each other and never say anything. No idea why that is.

Also, Sarah... Aussies are Brits with one degree of separation. We all love you folks. <3

Although I have to ask... where did the "Y" come from in your interpretation of English? Instead of saying "oh no", you say "oy noy!" I guess it's a cultural appropriation, same as American people have, lol. One language, many variations. ;D

Hi Everyone

You learn something everyday.  Whetherspoon's is a hotel chain, pub, food and cheap?  Then again I never was a pub person, the pubs I saw when I was young put me of them for life.  I was a restaurant girl.

You are right in a sense about friendlier people.  In Australia the more you get away from the city you get to meet more people and of course which translates into more friendlier people.

Have a nice day.

Yeah Wetherspoons is for people who just got off work, don't care about their tastebuds... and just want to get wasted without needing to re-mortgage their home. It's just a pub chain. One which caters to a certain demographic. Very cheap, bargain basement food but lots of alcohol, because that's the British way, lol. The dude is right though, it's a very social thing. The cost of living in the UK is through the roof at the moment. Most people can't afford to eat at restaurants because they have just absurd pricing. So for most people it's just cheap and cheerful.

Most of the restaurants in the UK these days are... 99% of people don't use them.

Hi Everyone

It's bad enough speaking three languages, American, English and Australia.  Even today after leaving old mother England, 55 years ago.

As for "Instead of saying "oh no", you say "oy noy!" I guess it's a cultural appropriation."  I guess my brain has become befuddled with all the accents.  In regards to, 'cultural appropriation', I will tell the person, politely to take an extremely long walk off a very short pier, jetty or wharf.

I will not tell the people wearing budgy smugglers, that somebody has taken a walk of a short pier either.
