I really dislike going to a Web site and

—not much later get an email saying such and such item is almost yours!  It was an item I browsed.  I do not want them remembering all the products I look at.  Seems like an invasion of privacy.

-get an ad in my browser that is exactly the same type of product or service I browsed not that long ago on the same day!

—when I return to a Web site and they show a product that I viewed in my previous visit, and it is almost something that I did NOT buy.


It is even worse in an app, they remember too much and even track your location.  Some you have to let them see your location if you are requesting a store pickup.  So I comply but after completing the order I shut off their access to track me.  They still will let me know that the order is ready for pickup, which is a notification I do desire.

Technology can be invasive.

   I'm not having that problem to the extent you are.  And that might be because that I use an obscure browser (Opera) that has a VPN switch so the entity on the other side doesn't really know where I am located.  (And, of course, always using private window for inquiries I want to keep private.)  But I haven't really figured out yet how to create a "stealth" e-mail address that won't show up somewhere on my computer.

  And I see you're dealing with text/call issues also. Texts haven't bothered me so much, but I do get my share of spam calls.  I've had some fun teasing the callers (Hun, you can get a better job than this, Military Intelligence, what is the password for the line you desire?  Oh Jeeze, the police are here, get off the line!), tormenting them (putting the handset near the speaker on my computer/sound system and, as Verizon very kindly warns me of "potential spam", just not answering.
