Story by Rajan (7 Sep 2024)

Will & Harper is a documentary that everyone must see, especially those supporting LGBTQ+ rights. Scheduled to release on Netflix on September 27, this film tells a powerful story of friendship, identity, and acceptance.

The narrative follows two real-life long-time friends, Harper Steele and Will Ferrell, as they travel throughout the country. Their journey entails a thorough investigation of how friendships change in the face of personal development.

The film presents Harper Steele's experience of coming out as a trans woman during the pandemic. This documentary is crucial for supporters of LGBTQ+ rights since it presents a sincere, close-up view of how human relationships could evolve while yet maintaining strength.

At its core, Will & Harper is a celebration of friendship, resilience, and the courage to live openly.

Advocates of LGBTQ+ rights will find Will & Harper particularly relatable because it tackles sensitive issues. One key aspect is the fear Harper experiences while traveling through conservative states as a trans woman.

The documentary shows the real risks she faces, from discriminatory laws to personal safety concerns, highlighting the ongoing struggles of the trans community in hostile environments.

As much as I feel like this is important... the very act of turning it into a money-spinning Netflix thing puts me immediately off. I'm sorry but it just does. There are more tasteful ways this could have been done than just "We can make a documentary out of this!". That just... write a book, you know?

This feels a bit too media for my tastes. I'm sure it will be great, though.

It's only because Will Ferrell is involved that this is even a thing. Not everyone is so lucky. I just... I don't even know... it irks me. I don't think I will watch this.

Harper Steele and Bob Smith wouldn't get a documentary.

@Sephirah

I probably won't watch it either. But it isn't really my kind of movie. Make it a post-apocalyptic comedy, then... maybe.
