RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - President-Elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem will be appointed to serve as the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
According to a statement by Donald Trump, Noem has been very strong on border security.
She was the first governor to send National Guard Soldiers to help Texas fight the President Joe Biden Border Crisis.
Trump says Noem will work closely with "Border Czar" Tom Homan to secure the border. Governor Noem issued a statement saying,
"I am honored and humbled that President Donald J. Trump has selected me to be the Secretary of Homeland Security. I look forward to working with Border Czar Tom Homan to make America SAFE again. With Donald Trump, we will secure the border, and restore safety to American communities so that families will again have the opportunity to pursue The American Dream."--------------------
Trump has said that he will fill government positions with people who are loyal to him. And there is no doubt that Kristi Noem is a big fan. She said she wanted to add Trump's face to Mount Rushmore, which ticked off a lot of people in South Dakota.
Apparently, skillset and experience do not matter. The Governor of
South Dakota is now the nation's expert on international border security because she sent National Guard troops to Texas to patrol the southern border.
Wow. Just wow.
