Have you ever eaten "roadkill" meats?

I suppose some may have been caught or hunted, then you ate this meat?

Such as opossum, raccoon, coyotes, fox, armadillo, skunk, beaver, groundhog (woodchucks), chipmunks, hedgehogs, rats, moles, squirrel, emu, etc.  Probably many of you have eaten deer or wild turkey or rabbit.

No jokes about eating beaver, please.

I do love rabbit, but we raised them commercially.

I like squirrel, especially the big ones. Squirrel gravy over biscuits is an awesome breakfast.

[Edit] It was not roadkill. I shot it.

Eaten rabbit and hare a few times and enjoyed them. Venison  too. UK squirrels are tiny and probably too much trouble  to gut and skin. Don't see the  other critters  in Lancashire

Do you know if eating Welsh Rarebit really gives some people nightmares?

Back in the 90's the Air Force people hit a moose with their pickup. The meat got divided up between a couple bars and we had a moose stew feed. That was pretty good.

I had a steak once in a restaurant that looked like it had been ran over by a tractor, does that count? ;)

The real question is if you used Blue cheese or a Cheese Whizz on the steak.
If you did, you cannot count that steak after this one time.  No repeats.

I don't have anything on steak. It ruins the flavour. Other than maybe... MAYBE some Himalayan rock salt to bring out the flavour. I am not someone who needs a rub to make a steak taste good. The quality is everything. I don't have a sweet tooth. I have vampire fangs lol. I am a total carnivore. ;D

This. No steak sauce, no pepper, and ketchup on steak is an abomination. I want to taste the steak.

I am the same way with my coffee. No cream or flavored crap. I want to taste the coffee. Dark roast and brewed so dark a spoon can stand up in the cup.

I think in Peru they eat Guinea pigs but those are raised to be eaten I think.  Not so much road kill.

They also have salt beds, that is, salt that is sold as a flavoring and for food processing.

Lori, I think I love you. Colombian coffee all the way. Black, fruity, delicious. Don't sully it with anything else.

I took a tour through a salt mine in Austria a long time ago. I learned a lot about how it was mined and processed. I even had a gift box from there that had a dozen or so salt cubes (like sugar cubes) in different colors. The colors vary due to mineral impurities.

There is one exception to Colombian. I enjoy Jamaican Blue Mountain, too. In Illinois, I had a supplier, and I would buy 30 lb. bags of JBM beans and grind them myself.

Any who... back to the "roadkill meats" discussion.

I do not care for dark coffee.  When beans are roasted too long for medium roast, they go to the dark roast pile.

However, many enjoy dark roast and that is good for their taste buds!

Now, is espresso considered to be dark roast?  It seems to be concentrated and you do not get much in the cup.

The coffee conversation does not have much to do with roadkill animals  That is okay though.

However, some people buy coffee beans that have been extracted from wild animal poop.  Really!
