I agree Sephirah, that eating contest is absolutely disgusting.  I also agree that two hot dogs are more than enough to satisfy any craving.  Hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill are a summer standard in the US.

I love hot dogs and agree two is enough. Manly favorite hot dog is the Hawaiian Dog with pineapple.

I am a traditionalist, hot dog, bun, mustard, and maybe sauerkraut if I don't plan to breathe on anyone later.

In the greater Chicago area, it is frowned to put ketchup on their style of hot dogs.

Some people like onions or relish on their hot dogs.
Unsure if cheese or chili should be on a hot dog or not, but some people enjoy those on them.

NatalieRenee I have never heard of a hawaiian hot dog (pineapple, red onion, jalapeno, lime juice, and cilantro) but they sound interesting.  Guess I'll have to go to Maui...twist my arm please!

I'm with Dirty Harry too, Jessica. I'm a purist but always willing to try something new.

Gray's Papaya in NYC is another place when they throw way too much on a hot dog:  ketchup, mustard, sauerkraut, onions, relish, chili and cheese.  Many put all of that on the hot dog (or frank).

I'm ok with ketchup, mustard, relish, OR chili and cheese. But I rarely eat hot dogs. My grandfather was a butcher all his life. You don't want to know what goes into those things. An Army buddy called them, "Sawdust with Everything". There are quality hot dogs and I do enjoy one now and then, just don't boil them.

I would rather have a proper sausage sandwich with brown sauce, those hot dog sausages never look good to me.

I do not eat hot dogs much.  But when I do I can tell the difference if this one is as good as one I had before.  Hard to explain but I guess it boils down to if I like the one I am currently eating or not.  The bun could be hard or cold or not fresh, the meat cool, and any of those are bad hot dogs.  Warm fresh buns and meat, and tasty meat, are must haves for a good hot dog.

A few of us ladies are going to have a pitch-in this evening shortly after work instead of this weekend because of some awful weather coming up and because weather is actually very nice for winter mid week.  I am bringing a salad and the main dish I was told will be hot dogs!  I have not had a hot dog since summer.  I will see my sweetie there, she will bring one of her delicious desserts. 

I have no idea Emma if these will be Nathan's hot dogs but I am curious so I will ask.

I had a hot dog last night.  It was boiled.  It was a jumbo hot dog.  It was served on a bun that was just taken out of the refrigerator.  There were many toppings available.  I had mustard and onions.

It was not great, it was not awful. It was a hot dog from one of those wholesale clubs.  After eating most of it, that was enough of that.

I think that grilled hot dogs may taste better than boiled ones, yet I remember having a boiled one before that was good.

I did have some salad, a ham slider, and butter pecan ice cream with apple pie.

There are sausages and then there are hot dogs, a totally different food group.  I'm not always sure what's in the hot dog but that is part of the excitement.

If you eat three hot dogs we're back to Lori's blog talking about toilet paper and the proper sink for a rinse...

Let us eat only one hot dog then! 

I like sausage, but it doesn't like me. I think it is the spices because they don't always bother me. While in Germany, I enjoyed Rot Wurst which is very similar to a hot dog.

I think hot dogs should be eaten only occasionally, as they can have up to 30% fat and a lot of sodium.

Let us not create any additional need for paperwork.
