Thanks for answering Emma!

I do not get an @username mention type of alert (at the top of the Web page) unless it was

Issued by a staff member, or
Someone used the member number for me instead of @ChrissyRyan, or
Anyone liked, thanked, or quoted me but those are different types of alerts anyway.

So anyone can type the @username and the software does show you an autocomplete pop up as you type the user's name but the mentioned user does not get an alert, unless a staff member uses @username.

Results for software testing or everyday use cases can have different results depending on the user's (or tester's) authority or privilege level.

I was wondering why I did not see these mentions and your response confirmed why we can't see these alerts in some cases.

No big deal though.  If I want to get another user's attention in my reply, I only need to simply briefly quote them.

I also have various threads marked to receive alerts, such as when a new member signs up or logs in.

To be fair... I have almost 500 unread alerts. 490, to be specific. I don't really pay attention to that much anymore. Probably because I'm old school lol.

Chrissy, I did actually get an alert.  I don't always go there and I misunderstood what you meant.

Thank you for letting me know.

Kindly make a post here that does not quote me but does have @ChrissyRyan in the body, without typing my member number,

I will see if I get an alert from you, a non-staff member,  I am curious!   Or, any other member here reading this who is not staff can do the same. In any case, no big deal.

THANKS.

I don't know if anyone else is having problems, but for the last two days I have had problems signing in and the system seems to be laggy, regardless of which computer I use.

Thought I would just check in and say "Hi!".

I need a break from everything right now.  I will circle back in a day.

ChrissyRyan

Take a nice break, enjoy the weekend.

Yes the system appears agonizingly slow.

Oh I have tried the Nathan's hot dogs.  They are just fine.
I heated two in the microwave and on another day I boiled two.

Carnegie Deli is selling its Corned Beef & Pastrami at select Costco locations.

Apparently this was a famous NYC deli, although it has a location at Madison Square Garden as well as online sales.

Have you eaten food from Carnegie Deli?

Hi Chrissy.

I personally like my Nathan hot dogs on the grill like they do at their original store in Coney Island. They do hot dogs the same way in Katz's and all other deli's. I like what it adds to the taste.

The original Carnegie Deli was classic. It was down the block from Carnegie Hall. I haven't been to their new location. Like Katz's, their sandwiches were measured in inches of thickness.  I always had to take some of the meat off to get it in my mouth, but of course, I ate those slices too.

OK, for everyone that has fully transitioned and packed for a trip, this will sound incredibly naive.

Women need a lot of stuff!!!

I am packing for my transatlantic cruise and, if I have the courage, I plan to spend the entire cruise as Emma. I thought I was doing minimalist packing until I started putting clothes in the suitcase.

ARRRRGH!

Maybe I am not transgender.....yeah, right!

I am going dress shopping in London and I may, if I have the additional courage, go to one of the formal evenings. :o

I keep telling myself that this is a "once in a lifetime" experience, sort of a Cinderella moment (without the Prince Charming...no thank you!) and that I should just suck it up and do it (so manly of me).

It will give me an entire week to be me and finally work on my makeup skills.

Go for it dear, yes I have to pack a case for a Mon to Fri hols with mum in a couple of weeks time . Thats travel on the coach there and back stuff then 3 day out trips and 3 evening meals, 5 outfits plus spares with shoes to match plus makeup and all is tight in the big case. Well 3 winter jumpers take up a lot of room!!

I always wear bulky things such as boots and coats when flying to minimize luggage space being used up.  This may help if you plan to fly back.

I still have to grill the hot dogs.  I have tried microwaving, boiling, and heating in the conventional oven.  I am skeptical about cooking in the air fryer, but I have four hot dogs left, so why not?

The challenge for packing this time is that I am packing for two.  I have to travel as male and depending on my courage or lack there of, I need some backup male clothes for the trip.

I feel like I am traveling as a gender convertible.

Emma,

Do not forget that you can get laundry service on cruises, albeit at high prices.  On select days, a discount may be offered for laundry service.  So if you are fretting over squeezing in the last one or two outfits, you may wish to use laundry service.  For a short cruise you would not need as much clothing of course and may not need to wash your clothing.

Some people also save up and bring some clean "worn out" under clothing that you would not want to donate and simply discard them after wearing during the cruise, freeing up space for the return trip.  That may sound ridiculous but it is a tip shared among cruise travelers.

As always, try to bring the basics, with multiple outfits that could be selected by using different combinations of items.

Have fun.  Lots of fun.

Chrissy
