It's 3:42 a.m. and I'm still awake.  Thanks to therapy for reopening old wounds.  Now I have to spend the next month dwelling on it and preparing a detailed report.

Sigh! 🤕

On the bright side psych saids: a new body deserves a new mind, painful but worth while.

I read about some Bed Nucleus in many places. So I asked psych what is that?

And this is what she said:

"The bed nucleus of the stria terminalis (BNST) is a region of the brain that has been studied in relation to gender identity, particularly in transgender individuals. Research suggests that the BNST, which is involved in emotional and stress related processing, may also play a role in gender identity.

This research supports the idea that gender identity has a biological basis, rather than being purely psychological or social. "

Interesting! So I asked her to refer me to a neurologist for this.

She said: hmmm, I'll let you know.

Considering the hostile current political environment, if she can make this happen for me, this experiment is going to be fun! 😊😹💓

You might find this article interesting. It reaches no conclusions but explains some of the ongoing research being conducted to identify factors in the womb that may affect gender identity.

Yeah, she just got back to me and said that to see a neuro I have to have neurological symptoms like memory issues, migraines, or cognitive concerns, or if I am experiencing dysphoria related distress that might benefit from a neurological perspective.

I don't have any of these. But she said she has a nuero friend that might be able help with the explanation on his free time. She will let me know if she can make it happen.

Pretty cool if she can. 🤞

Thanks Lori for the link. 💓

I'm surprised that the article has survived the purge.  Read it while we can, I suppose.

March, winter thaws, the earth awakens. Like spring, we rise, evolve, and reshape the world. Growth is inevitable, transformation is here, and change is unstoppable.

What does this season of growth and transformation mean to you? How are you embracing change this March? 🌸✨

Hi Everyone

Quote"the thread that can't be derailed....
Well I've got bad news for you.

Attention everyone! This is your conductor oh, wait!  We don't actually have one.  Uh-oh No!

🚂💨 The Derailment Express is officially hurtling toward its final stop:  Thread Lock Terminus.  The brakes? Yeah, those are long gone.  The track? Totally unrecognizable.  And the engineer?  They probably jumped ship about 376 posts ago.

We're pulling into Off Topicville Station for an unplanned pit stop filled with confusion, chaos and discussions that have nothing to do with where we started.  Just a heads up, there's a bit of a gap between reality and the wild turn this thread has taken.

Next, we're making a quick detour through Wormhole Wackiness.  So hang on tight, because exactly 189 posts from now, we're heading for a spectacular, slow-motion crash into the abyss of "No More Postings Allowed."

🚨 DANGER! DANGER! 🚨

The train is shaking! The tracks are bending! The mods are watching!  We're officially Lost in Space, zooming through the digital void with no clue where we're headed and no hope of turning back.  It's complete chaos, but honestly, it's kind of beautiful.

As we near Thread Lock Terminus, I just want to thank all you fellow passengers for joining me on this crazy ride.  Not really I'm just a figmant of your imagination.  The memes, the madness, those moments of pure derailment, this train might be on its last legs, but it's been an unforgettable journey.

So, before we crash and burn in a spectacular heap of mod-enforced silence...  ALL ABOARD!

Best Wishes Always

...

The thread has become worryingly on-topic so I shall try to get it back on track with another rant.

In Britain, one Michael O'Brien was released from prison more than a decade after being wrongfully convicted.  As per the custom, a huge amount was deducted from his compensation for "bed and board".  Mr O'Brien is campaigning to have his bed and board money paid back to him.

I think that deducting bed and board from wrongfully convicted prisoners is evil because

1) Even if prisoners did owe for bed and board, why should innocent ones have to pay it back when guilty ones do not?

2) Prisoners are given work to do while they are in prison.  In the UK, this work might not cover the cost of keeping people in prison but it would earn the inmates much nicer food and accommodation if they were free.  How could prisoners, especially innocent ones, owe for bed and board?

3) Convicts are often imprisoned in their prime and are separated from their families or, worse, prevented from having families.  True, some prisoners are trained and rehabilitated to live honest lives when released.  However, innocent prisoners do not need to be rehabilitated and already had honest, productive lives before they were imprisoned.  Besides, having to mix with dangerous criminals is more likely to turn honest people dishonest than vice versa.  Prison is not a holiday camp.  The food and accommodation of prisoners is part of their punishment.  Imprisonment is more like suspended animation than living except that unlike in the sci-fi movies, prisoners get older and weaker while waiting to resume their lives.  Why should wrongly convicted prisoners have to pay bed and board?

My, ahem, agent in Whitehall informed me that Britain's Labour government is planning to quietly stop the practice of deducting bed and board from the compensation of wrongly convicted prisoners.  However, money will not be paid back retrospectively, so Mr O'Brien and others like him will not benefit.

Are there any other countries that deduct bed and board from the compensation of wrongly convicted prisoners?  To me, the practice seems to be very Britishly upper class and cynical.

Digging snow.

We got a few inches yesterday and more last night. I have an early VA lab appointment this morning, so I am up early enough to dig out the Jeep. March is typically our wettest month, either rain or snow.

Yikes, let's hope it's the last bit of the season. Drive safe to the lab.

I prefer rain, but we get a lot of it in April, not to far away.

Thanks! I'm home safe now.

Fortunately, I got new tires and struts put on the Jeep recently, so I had plenty of grip.

The appointment went well. I got to visit with my favorite vampire. She has been drawing my blood since 2019 and never missed a vein or left me with a bruise. She is very good!
