Living through my impressionable years during the homophobic 60's 70's, finally getting relief by leaving the military service... easing into the rest of my life comfortable with me.  Don't misunderstand, it's been not so much of a picnic from time to time.  Yet, well worth it for the reduction in stress!  Why do we do this?  I see many reasons throughout this forum and in life. 

Living the best life I can is my reason.

I am transitioning because my life is mostly better than if I did not.

I am not sure there is a reason it just snap and happens, I was reasonably lucky that it happened when i was a lot younger, never had relationships,and have spent more years as i am now than before, for me it was about trying to understand why i felt the way that i did
