Do you use the airlines for travel?

If so, do you pay for "refundable fares"?  They cost more than the non-refundable fares.

If so, do you try to get the least expensive seats or do you pay a little more for some amenities, such as seat location, leg room, etc.?

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

I travel all time (the joy of being retired) a lot of time by airline. I purchase non-refundable, but I have travel insurance, so it is not a problem. What seats I chose are based on the length of the flight.  If it is a long flight like LHR to DEN I select premium seat with more leg room. If shot like LAX to SFO then the cheapest seats.

Ellen,

When you get travel insurance is it on a per trip basis?  Or is it an annual purchase thing that covers all you travel, with some limitations.

I have bought travel insurance for individual trips but not directly with an airline.

Also, are not the non-refundable airfares applied to a future trip with the same airline (maybe with a fee) if you have to cancel a flight?  Or do you simply lose everything you paid for the airline ticket?  That is, when you have no travel insurance.

It is on a trip by trip basis. Most of my flights are connected with one of my cruises and I purchase the travel insurance from the cruise operator (NCL) whch covers everything.

For business I usually go the day before and stay over one night to fly back the next day.
This is because I still go through security and get rental cars in a male presentation because of my documents.  But so it goes.
