I've been on a road trip since Saturday, have been wearing a hat the entire time. I just got to my hotel, and took my hat off and saw how long my hair is getting. It feels so affirming to see my hair getting longer since I started growing it out.  :D

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Congratulations!  I transitioned too late in life.  I have a "skin head" so the wig fits better.

Agreed!  Euphoria, my hair is down to my shoulder blades.  I love it.  Certainly a pain to curl since it is very straight, but I can't do without it.
One shouldn't open the book of another's life and jump in the middle.  I am a woman, I'm a mystery.  I still see and hear who I used to be, who I am, who I'm gonna be. - Richelle

Hey Alana,

I love this. There seems to be something affirming about watching our hair grow out, isn't there? For me, it's not just about the length, it's also the identity that length represents.

My longer hair has become part of how I stay centered. I've noticed that by the time I leave my apartment and glance down to insert my key, my posture has already shifted, shoulders back, head lifted.

It's as if my hair itself has taught me to carry myself differently.

It reminds me to walk in balance, not to shrink, not to stare at the ground, but to move through the world upright. Even in public now, I catch myself smiling at strangers, greeting them with my chin held high, instead of the downward nod I used to give.

The way my hair brushes against my shoulders keeps me aware of how I'm holding myself.

I don't know if there's a correlation between longer hair and posture, but I love how it keeps me in tune with myself when I'm out and about.

Yeah you won't be saying that when your hair is down to your butt and it takes up an inordinate amount of time to keep it looking presentable, lol. ;)

I mean... you probably will haha. Enjoy it, sweetie. <3

Mostly just to do it up at night, so to acheive soft curls the next day :)

I mean there probably is a thing. Long hair is like... a massive pain. It weighs more than you think. My hair was like this colour, lol...

I edited your quote, those big words make me feel like I'm taking something from the divine when they're used to describe me.

But I've been thinking about it this quote, and I might post something tomorrow after my second laser session... if I can manage to catch a good shot with the right angles and lighting.

I'm really nervous about this, so no promises... we'll see! 😰😰

Girl, it's okay. I only ever posted one picture of me. Like 15 years ago. Back when I used to have a blog... and dinosaurs ruled the earth. I deleted it within a day, lol. Please don't do anything you aren't comfortable with okay? I don't need to see you to see you. <3

And no, Lilis, you have a huge spark of divinity about you girl. You go out of your way to be a force for good for people. You comfort everyone, ask for nothing. You are kind and gentle. Understanding and empathic. You are everything good in this world. Like so many other people here, honestly. I think having to go through adversity makes you appreciate how that affects people.

So no, girl. I have reverential respect for you, okay?

You are, too, Pema. Even being here and being brave enough to share your story with other people is a big thing. And it helps others. Is why this place has been so important for so long. It takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there. To come out of your shell. To even admit to others what you have known yourself. That is no small leap of faith. And not something everyone can do. Especially these days.

Anyone who puts themselves out there, who is scared of being vulnerable but does it anyway... that's courage. That's Susan's Place. Full of incredible individuals. <3

Long hair is a two way street, it looks fab but a total pain in the arse to maintain. I have had my hair very long and showering was such a production. It takes forever to dry, even with a blower, and when I had shorter hair the shower was just take a towel and rub your hair a few times and done. The long, long hair was always a tangle nightmare and I had to buy the detangle spray from the store. But, I loved how the long hair looked. So, still moving back and forth on haircut decisions. Right now, it's growing long agin. It makes me smile but also pisses me off ...  :)

Haha preach it, sistah. It is good in theory, but in practice it's like... where are the hedge trimmers? Why am I taking 2 hours to get it manageable and looking nice? If you're okay with that then go with it. I think probably mid back is a good compromise. Super long is just... it makes you feel good, until you have to wash it and dry it and condition it and de-tangle it and omg... my hair is naturally curly so there's the whole hair straightener nightmare to think about. I burned myself and probably swore more than a Navvie just to look good. And... I mean it does. But keeping that is a fulltime job. :P

My hair is about 5 inches long. I'm slowly discovering how much work it is. I've recently discovered headbands like the ones baseball players wear. They've become quite the godsend for me.
