Busy morning today. I called a Property Manager in Pueblo to inquire about my application. It has been approved! I sent my deposit to hold the place until I get there. She is sending me all the usual paperwork (lease, rules, utilities that need to be switched, etc.). I will be going back down to do a final inspection and sign the lease on... Friday, the 13th.  :icon_yikes:

It feels good to have an address where I know where I am going. The rest is just logistics to make the move happen.  :eusa_dance: <--- my Happy Dance.

Congrats, Lori! 🎉

Wonderful news, Friday the 13th sounds like the perfect day to turn a new page, maybe a little spooky, but definitely memorable!  ;D

I'm not superstitious. It is considered unlucky because on Friday, October 13, 1307, the officers of King Philip IV of France arrested, tortured, and killed the Knights Templar. So, to be safe, I will avoid going to France again for a long time.  ;D

Sounds okay to skip France for now.

I honeymooned in Paris back in 1979 (wife #1). We, uh, consummated on the Eiffel Tower. Got to visit the palace at Versailles, the Louver Museum (snapped a pic of Mona Lisa and got scolded by a security guard), Notre Dame Cathedral (toured the catacombs below), and had a great time playing tourist.

The only downside is the city is very dirty. We had a 4-star hotel room and the tap water was brown and smelled. We drank a lot of wine. But after a shower, you feel like you need a shower. Hence the invention of perfume.

I have no interest in going back. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. I would like to see the southern coast and visit some of the churches in that area. But it is not high on my priority list.

Some of the old cemeteries have swastikas on the headstones. That was creepy. There was a church, I don't recall where, that was built into the side of a cliff. The church and the cemetery had skulls with bat wings decorating them. I never knew what that was about. They had a tomb like the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which had a soldier carved into the marble like a statue lying on top of the slab. He was in full Nazi uniform with helmet and medals on his chest. There must have been a dead animal nearby because the smell was awful.

All in all, I think you'll be much happier in Pueblo than Paris (the honeymoon part aside). Congratulations, Lori!

We did southern coast too.  Much better.  But to be honest, Greece and Italy were best.

As did we!  I didn't mention Germany, or the Netherlands.  Both better than Paris.  We've not visited Ireland yet though.

The best port we ever pulled into in France was Villefranche-sur-Mer. This was not a very often visited port by the Navy. Being on a small Frigate (ffg) we were able to get in and with ease with the larger ships in our group couldn't  This little seaside town was very small and welcoming.

I'm in love with the castles that aren't ruins!  Many more of them in Germany.

There are supposedly more castles in Germany than there are McDonalds.

Lori,

Why are the best places for visitors to go see and experience in South Dakota?
Including hiking venues is fine of course.
