RFK tells healthcare providers to ignore the science on trans care & listen to the administration

https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2025/05/rfk-tells-healthcare-providers-to-ignore-the-science-on-trans-care-listen-to-the-administration/

Arin Waller (29 May 2025)

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) confirmed Wednesday that HHS Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr. sent out a letter to health care providers and medical boards urging them to update treatment protocols for children with gender dysphoria based on an HHS review released at the beginning of this month. The review in question condemns current scientific findings on treating gender dysphoria and suggests conversion therapy to treat trans kids instead of gender affirmation.

Kennedy, in the letter, warns medical providers against relying on scientific evidence when it comes to treating gender dysphoria. He claims that, despite years of scientific research showing a correlation between gender affirming medical care and improved quality of life, there is little evidence supporting the notion that gender affirming care performed on minors is beneficial.

The letter calls upon physicians to uphold their oath to "do no harm" by following the guidelines of the HHS report instead of the consensus among major medical professional associations.

The review advocates for a greater reliance on psychotherapy to "cure" gender dysphoria. Many are pointing out that the language is a veiled way of advocating for conversion therapy.

Insurance companies are driven by profits.  They will provide medically necessary care whenever their studies show that it is cheaper to provide the care than to deal with what happens when that care is withheld.

Pills and medical tests may be cheaper than $10,000 a year for psychotherapy, but it a good bet that the guys in charge have no idea how much stuff costs.

There is much more to the so-called (MAHA) Make America Healthy Again Report.

Notus.org reports that "The MAHA Report Cites Studies That Don't Exist"
https://www.notus.org/health-science/make-america-healthy-again-report-citation-errors

The Washington Post reported, "White House MAHA Report may have garbled science by using AI"
https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/05/29/maha-rfk-jr-ai-garble/

This is also explored by Mediaite:
https://www.mediaite.com/media/news/experts-find-definitive-proof-ai-used-in-maha-report-shoddy-work/

Experts claim artificial intelligence may have played a central and undisclosed role in crafting the White House's marquee health policy document after finding a telltale footprint embedded directly in the text.

The "Make America Healthy Again" (MAHA) Report, led by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and published earlier this week by the newly-established Make America Healthy Again Commission, raised alarm after the report cited multiple studies and authors that don't appear to be real.

Now, AI researchers, speaking with The Washington Post, flagged the presence of "oaicite" markers, a technical signature linked to OpenAI's tools, in multiple footnotes.

Welcome to the Cass Report 2.0
It is not a report, but a propaganda piece intended solely to support the bigotry of this administration.

The world is flat again and the universe revolves around the Earth. Vaccines cause ASD and measles does no harm. But above all this: there are only two genders and children have no idea of whom they are.

I think the people in charge would be better served by getting all the rubbish out of the stuff you folks eat. Stuff that's banned in other places. Get rid of all the toxic dyes, unnecessary additives and preservatives, and ensure you have access to good, healthy food. That would do more for making America healthy again than witch hunts like this.

Hopefully the American Medical Association has more sense.  Kennedy is a total loony-tunes nut-job.  It pains me to say it, but he is even crazier than Trump.

That's scary because I didn't think such a thing was possible. ;D The world these days seems to turn to a symphony of madness. I don't really keep up to date with US politics. But I find it sad that someone with that surname would literally fly in the face of someone else who held that surname. Someone... who showed how things can be. How the world can be. That makes me really sad. For everything we've achieved... we've fallen a long way recently.

But I am hopeful that people will realise, once again, that hate doesn't make life better. Ignorance doesn't make discomfort disappear. And pretending both of these things do is a fool's errand. I guess we sometimes need a reminder of what not to do, in order to not do it later on down the road.

Once upon a time we were all Berliners. Now, we are the oppressors. With apologies to those who once believed in American exceptionalism.

No, that's the thing Anni. It's not "We". It's a select few people who are massively drunk on power, trying to dictate to everyone else how life should be. Your only mistake was letting these miscreants through the door. But the American people I know... are exceptional. A fact that seems to get lost on people when you start lumping a populace in with those running it. We do the same thing with Russia. We do the same thing with a lot of countries. It's often the people in those countries who suffer most because of the veneer of those in charge. And that's where my hope springs from.

You are not your leadership. The greatest changes in history have come from people sick and tired of the 1% trying to tell them how to live.

Sadly and with great trepidation, Sephirah, I am compelled to disagree. If you, for some unknown reason, visit the 'land of the free and the home of the brave' my opinions and preferences will have scant effect on your experience. But the whims of the people in power might very well ruin your day. I am proud to be an American, though appalled by the moment we are in. And will shout my outrage from the top of my voice. But the people who will ask for your gender markers at Kennedy or Reagan, Dulles or Atlanta, will not hear me.

Trust me, it is on my bucket list, Anni. And I can guarantee you that I will not let any sort of fascist rules and regulations sour my view of what matters most to me. People. People like you, and Lori, and Anna. None of that matters to me. I see it for what it is. The people I speak to here, the hearts laid bare, the feelings, hopes and dreams of you folks from the US drowns out any of that. And I can promise you that won't change. Whatever rules there are, there are. But I will never, ever think any less of someone because the people in charge are dumbasses. Just have to talk to any of you for more than a second to realise this. The American dream isn't a thing. It's not something you can legislate.

It's the kindness, drive, empathy, understanding, compassion, and desire to be better... held in the heart of people like you. You don't change the world with governments. You change the world with people who think they can't.

Your words give me hope, Sephirah. Something that seems in short supply this side of the pond. And I refuse to remain silent in the face of fascism. That being said, I cannot, in good conscience, claim the bright promise of "with liberty and justice for all" without bearing some of the responsibility for 'sh-thole nations.' I cannot wash my hands of what we have wrought regardless of how I cast my vote. But I will promise you this: I will not sit idly on my hands. If I recall correctly (and please correct me if I don't) approximately the same percentage of Jews lived in Germany in 1930 as gender variant people live in the US today. I see a pattern here. And it fills me with dread.

You're not the only one who sees that pattern, Annika. More outside the US but even people within.

You can't change the past, but you can change the future. As I say, sometimes we need a gut punch to realise why some stuff is just bad. Things go in cycles. And we need reminding why stuff is bad occasionally.

Just... please don't blame yourself, okay? And that goes for all my American friends here. You didn't cause this, you didn't contribute to it. It's all on the Orange-utan and his cabaret of nonsense. You didn't make the rules, but you have to live with them. Thankfully your system is designed so he can't wreak havoc for a third term... as much as he probably wants to.

You just need to find people better than that. So many people in your country... you can do better next time. Please don't let Vance be the next candidate. That guy has no tact filter. He doesn't care who he annoys.

Other than the possibility we both had 'Semper Fi' stickers on our pick-up's rear windshield and the same MOS, I have nothing in common with VP Vance and will do my best to ensure his political journey ends at V. Hey, we survived Andrew Jackson and Richard Nixon. There's still hope.

Hey, we survived Andrew Jackson and Richard Nixon. There's still hope.

You are nothing like that, Anni. You have feelings... for one thing. ;)

And that's really the thing. Don't be ashamed of being American. Don't be ashamed of what that stands for. What it used to stand for. As a Brit... we have always had a special relationship with our kin across the pond. Sometimes it's tested. Your latest mafia Don would like to think it's all but irrelevant.. but it isn't. My best friends here are my kin. You, Lori, Ashley, Anna, Lilis, Adrian, Emma, Jess, Danielle, even Dev :) and I am sorry... this list isn't exhaustive I just have more holes in my brain than Sam Beckett.

The point is... Change happens. It's a dark time now, and people see why it's a dark time. It won't always be that way. It is not a reflection on you. People who struggle just to be themselves. It will get better. I have hope. <3

As do I. Yesterday, my daughter hiked deep into the mountains (the Tobacco Roots if you care to google). Unfortunately, she blew out the exhaust manifold of my Suburban getting there. When she came home, she made enchiladas from a combination of venison and hamburger and whatever else she threw into the frying pan. Life goes on. Even here. Even for me. I am well into my 70's and, girl, the things I've seen and the things I've done would leave you wide-eyed and agape. My hope is for her, and for you. For everyone who looks further into the future than they do the past. These are hard times, but this too, shall pass. My parents lived through the depression. My distant relatives (and, perhaps, some of yours) survived the potato famine. That which doesn't kill us...

Already has, Anni. Age means nothing to me. In the same way gender doesn't really mean anything to me. People are people. I don't... I don't see the world in that way. Everyone is beautiful.

But this is dragging the thread way off topic. ;D Ignoring science is never a good thing. It's never worked out well in the past. Other than maybe the flat earth idiots who make YouTube careers being deliberately silly,
