Quote from: Maid Marion on June 18, 2025, 07:43:32 PMI saw a lady eye doctor today.  I showed her how neatly I did my nails as it takes good eyesight to paint your nail (plus hand-eye coordination) as evidence of how well I've recovered from a stroke. She decided that I ought be dilated for to check for retinal tears.  She found some old ones but they were small lower tears that healed on their own. She agreed that single prescription glasses are better for avoiding falls.

I told the sales associate why I like to present as female to help her pick glasses for me.
She had plenty of time as we were waiting for my eyes to be dilated.  I liked one she picked and she said they had it an another color, purple.  I bought large purple frames for my next pair for golfing and driving.

Sounds nice!

Marion, I'd be interested in seeing your nails if you care to post a photo. If not, that's OK, too.

As a female I can easily "fit in" and wear appropriate clothes for an upscale mall like West Farms Mall.
I could never do that as a guy.
I wore an orange Eddie Bauer top, black golf pants, and black booties with 2inch heels with my expensive designer prescription glasses and a pink watch.

I saw a lot of women wearing open toe sandals so I may do that as well during the hot summer days.
Fortunately the weather was heavily overcast, so I could drive home while my eyes were partially dilated.

I talk a lot more now that I'm out.  I think this has helped me get better health care.
I told them my O.D. moved from this location and then retired.  This allowed them to figure out that they needed me to sign a release so they could get records from the other doctor.  In the past I didn't quite say what I needed for them to fully understand the situation.  Then there is the added impact of what you say if you dress appropriately.

I had lunch at PF Chang.  The pork egg roll, spicy chicken, and lo mein(noodles). 1480 calories.  I cleaned my plate using chopsticks.
Then I spent an hour walking around the mall in my heels before heading home.

I ordered new computer glasses from Zenni using my Health Insurance Awards program money!  Zenni gave me a $20 birthday discount on top of that!
I got four years of use out of the old ones but the light sensitive coating is starting to craze around the edges as expected when the coating is applied to plastic lenses.  By using different glasses for computer/gardening and driving my prescription stopped changing so much between checkups.  My new prescription now has the PD measurement missing from the old ones.  That is quite useful when buying glasses online.

I decided to go with exactly the same frames. They fit nicely and if I trash the frame I can swap frames with another pair.  I've done that once already with a pair of sunglasses that turned out to be too dark.

I had a pair of frames that I really loved because they fit right and were very lightweight. So, as my prescription changed, I would have them put the new lenses in the old frames. Sadly, the VA doesn't do that, so I had to get my frames elsewhere.

I picked up my new glasses today.  I still use my male name which confused the sales associate since my walk, talk, and clothes were totally feminine.  I wore sandals and nail polish on my toe nails.  Then she looked at the glasses and saw they were large cat eye frames with metallic purple accents.
My top was a pink sleeveless polo and I wore a white skirt with red printed design.

I found another beginner golf course to play on.  This one is pretty easy, 300 yard par 4s and one Par 3. No sand traps and the greens are bigger than the other courses I play.

I played the beginner golf course first thing in the morning as it was 80 degrees with a humidity in the 60s.
I sliced the ball down the fairway and hit a really good iron shot to go five yards past 311 yard pin!
GPS said the approach shot was 132 yards which makes the drive 184 yards on a flat course.
I find it better to calculate driver distances when I get home.  Otherwise it throws off the tempo of my  swing.  A putt to four feet and I picked up the ball for par 4.  :D

It was good to see that I could play without any health issues.  I made sure to drink lots of water.  My BP is  now 113/70 with a pulse of 90.

After taking a shower I contacted a NY company that put a little white flag on my property.  They got a contract with the CT DOT and will have CBYD Mark stuff and then they will remove the flag.  At the end of the conversation she clearly gendered me as "ma' am" to end it.

We will be standing by to hear of your first eagle on the golf links.

Wow!  They installed the CT DOT school crossing signs yesterday, the day after I called to inquire! It was the hottest day of the year, with an official reading of 99 degrees at BDL, the Windsor Locks airport weather station.  I'm sure they wanted to get paid.  It was good my mental health, one less uncertainty to worry about.  Now I can plant low growing ground cover roses around the school sign.  ;D

I learned from Mom about how to ask annoying questions to get stuff done quickly.

I found out today that our town defines daytime as between 7AM and 10PM.
I mowed the lawn from 7:30 to 7:45 to beat the summer heat.  Normally I like to wait until after 8AM.
The neighbor next door said nothing when she took the dog out at 8:30.
I was able to practice golf and garden in the shade before wrapping it up for the day at 11AM.
My BP was 117/71 with a pulse of 87.

I got my new platform sandals today.  1.5 inch platforms with 3inch heels.  Best of all they have plenty of room for my toes.

I'm busy pruning my lilacs and rhododendrons before they set flowers for next year.
I'm letting the lilacs get big as a privacy hedge while I'm cutting down the rhododendrons with reduction cuts.

The clicking button on my mouse was failing so I bought a new gaming mouse to replace it.
I used to fix stuff like that but now electronics is so cheap it only cost me $10 for a new gaming mouse.

I asked my neighbor if I could use some of his herbicide and he said to use as much of it as I want.
Turns out he just bought some pet friendly plant killer.  They have two dogs.  We need it to control the Tree of Life plant.  This invasive plant will send out runners if you try to cut it down so it is best to kill it with herbicides if you can't pull it out of the ground.  I can pull 1ft plants out of the ground after it rains.

The CT DOT came out today and removed the white flag. Now I can plant dwarf pink beach roses around the sign to make that part of the yard easy to mow.
I already have plastic edging in the garage to keep the grass out of the rose bed.

Played another round of golf this morning now that the weather has cooled down to the high 60s/low 70s.  I got a nice complement on my swing by a guy who was playing with my wife.  I hit my iron swings straight with good distance and height.  I had a partner for a few holes, then that guy let him play through. I asked about joining the couple, but they told me to play through as well.

I had hot dog and fries for lunch, then bought fifty bucks of groceries. Staples like flank steak, milk, fresh corn, and cotton candy grapes.  As well as some candy, Snoballs, and a small lobster tail for dinner.

I received the town tax bill in the mail while mowing the lawn and paid it a few hours later.
I was dressed casually in a Hello Kitty tank top, white print knee length skort, and leather sandals.
It is 89 degrees but the humidity makes it feel like 98.
Then I went over to CVS to buy two Cadbury dark chocolate bars and two small cans of seasoned almonds.

I hope you enjoy the candy.
