I walked over to the golf course to watch the town fireworks show.  Took me 30 minutes to walk 1.4 miles.  A guy, trailing well behind his wife,stopped briefly to say hi to me.  I was wearing my matching terrycloth sleeveless crop top and short shorts.  Really nice 20 minute show.  Took me 25 minutes to walk home at a brisk pace without getting tired.

This morning I'm wearing a Barbie Pink minidress.  I fill out all the curves in all the right places. 

I couldn't shop with my wife for clothes as they fit me too well once I started buying clothes marketed for women.

Zero Restrictions was having a 50% off  sale so I bought an orange golf skort with pockets for holding your balls.
As a previous customer they gave me another 10% off.  I have a pleated white skort with zippered pockets.
Usable pockets make them very practical to wear at casual restaurants and stores. 
Golf skirts are the only bottoms I can easily find that are knee length for playing at the Private golf club.
I've gotten lazy and only  buy ready to wear clothes.  I'll modify golf clubs but not clothes.

I use SPF 15 sunscreen for a light tan while golfing.  There are benefits to getting some exposure to sun, such as not having to take vitamin D supplements.

I learned a new golf swing!  It took me lot of work but I can now use Driver off the Tee and have the ball stay in the fairway!  Last year I could aim it so it landed in the middle but it would spin to the side and roll off!  Now it rolls for more distance down the fairway. Golf is a lot more fun when the ball is sitting in the middle of a closely mowed strip of grass! 

I've learned to assemble and customize my golf clubs  so they fit my swing.  I bought 4oz of epoxy years ago and used up the last bit to assemble two irons.  I ordered more epoxy but it got delivered to the wrong house!  They make the epoxy in West Hartford but tax paperwork hassles prevent them from selling retail from the factory.

I went shopping for a golfing umbrella that attaches to my push cart. They were sold out and down to just one color, magenta. my first choice!

Something ate my Zinnia flowers yesterday!  It wasn't the bunny rabbit as the culprit mangled the stems, leaving very rough edges.  It ate some of the leaves as well.  Zinnias rebloom, so I may protect them with hardware cloth.  Bunny rabbits have razor sharp teeth and leave very clean cuts.  They were already companion planted with marigolds.  My guess it was a groundhog that lives under my neighbor's shed.

I helped the lady at the golf pro shop find a hobby!  She showed me the hydrangeas she had dried out to preserve them!  When I first talked to her she complained about not having anything to do besides work.  Now she is excited about doing something!

I had a great practice round at the golf course today.  Driver was working well.  I'm not taking as much time to set up. I finished the round in less than 90 minutes, despite making over sixty swings at the ball.  Normally the idea is to make as few swings as possible for the best score, but that is a lousy way to practice on a municipal course. That often requires taking difficult swings impeded by hazards and poor course conditions.  Better to take more swings that aren't as impacted by conditions.  Or simply taking stroke and distance penalties to try the shot again.

It was a quiet time at Doogies so I was asked why I dress the way I do.  I told him it was the clothes.  I don't have much in the way of choice if I want age appropriate clothes that fit me.  I can easily find size 7 women's shoes.  Men's size 5 shoes are almost impossible to find. I said I like to shop and my size of clothing usually goes on sale. 

I also transitioned socially.  I have a feminine voice, mannerisms, and walk. It is much easier for me to interact socially as a woman than I every did as a 5ft in 115lb man.  Folks judge you by the clothes you wear and I couldn't find appropriate clothes to wear.  If that didn't matter they struggled to figure out my gender. Talking just made them more confused.  If they saw me walk they were sure I was a woman.  Not a good first impression.

That's it.  Making good first impression. Now I wear nice clothes with that clearly indicate that I prefer to be addressed with feminine pronouns. Bright colors.  Florals. Clothes that flaunt my hourglass figure.  Tops and bottoms that match.  Sometimes in subtle ways that were impossible as a guy.
Like having yellow accents in my top that perfectly match my yellow skirt.

As a small guy I was pretty much ignored.  Older woman often complain about that.  Nobody sees them.
I look young enough that guys talk to me all the time.  I can make eye contact with a guy and he will come over to chat.
A much different social dynamic than what I grew up with.

I've always been a poor athlete.  As in the last one picked or the left over who didn't get picked.
But I can make some really great golf shots. Now that I'm retired I get enough practice time to make them with consistency as well.

As a well dressed female I can do something I can't do as a short guy.
I can provide validation!
When I play the municipal course in Hartford I provide validation that the people who work that they are going a good job.  It is obvious from the clothes I wear and the clubs I play that I could play at a private club, but I chose to play here.
This is a social construct engrained in our society.
By offering my respect they feel good about what they do.  It is hard to get that.

The attitudes of the golfers around me change as they see me play.  I have a really nice iron swing and can put the ball on the green from a pretty good distance from the fairway.  A useful skill that most golfers never figure out. Most golfers struggle to hit nice shots from the fairway.  But I do it consistently!

I started today by pulling weeds at 7AM.  Mostly crabgrass that wants to take over the yard.  I grow a 4 inch high lawn with slows the crabgrass down and makes it easier to weed by pushing the crabgrass away from the ground instead of lying flat. Then I started my main meal of the day, turning on the slow cooker and making a sauce for  boneless beef short ribs.  After the sauce was done I cooked some bacon and braised the short ribs in the hot bacon grease.  Then I put the beef in the slow cooker to be ready  sometime in the afternoon.

I mow to the height of 3.5 inches.  It helps with weed control.  A four inch height should work better yet. 


I will go to a TJ Maxx store today looking for a bargain. 

Fiskars sells both a three and a four prong foot controlled weeder that are so easy to use.  There are other brands but I recommend having one that has an eject feature.  It is far easier than hand weeding.  Some weeds are too small to grab with the weed extractor it seems though.

Good to hear you found a couple items at TJ Maxx to make the trip worthwhile.

The short ribs were a disaster.  I got caught up in a marathon rose bush pruning session as we had a day of decent weather.  I thought the ribs would be fine but the water evaporated and while the ribs were edible, the sauce had to be chiseled out of the ceramic pot with a bamboo chopstick and a hard rubber mallet.

But, that gave me plenty of time to think about a better recipe!  I added more ketchup, Head BBQ sauce, and water to completely cover the boneless short rib.  I also added chopped carrots and celery.  I found that unprocessed organic carrots last a long time in storage in the refrigerator.  I don't peel the carrots but just chop them up and add to the crock pot with the chopped celery. By setting the little crock pot to low it will simmer just below 200* Fahrenheit.  The added thermal mass kept the temperature down below 200* and I can fine tune the temperature by adding more water or ingredients.  I cooked another single serving meal today  after mowing the yard and it turned out perfectly!  I prefer to cook single serving meals and experiment to perfect my recipes.

I have a couple more pieces of boneless short ribs for future meals.  I plan to try adding chopped squash to the mix. They say that summer squash can be stored for months in a cool basement.  I'm learning about storing veggies so I don't have to eat it all at once.

I realized that there is a farm stand near the center of town that isn't far off my my travels.
I can buy fresh veggies that don't travel well like Silver Queen corn.  There used to be a market at the center of town that I could walk to from my first apartment.  It shut down and was replaced by a NY based one for a few years but it shut down as well.  I can drive a couple miles to some big markets but it must be a hassle now for those who live in the center of town.

I played a quick round of golf today with half a dozen clubs. Did a little grocery shopping, then took a shower and a mid-day nap.

That was a selfie with an another trans girl but I thought it best to crop her out of the picture.

I've been learning how to golf more efficiently.
It is a big hassle to put sun screen on my arms so I'm switching to long sleeve polos designed for hot weather.  The high tech fabrics make a difference so I just bought two more from EPNY.  I waited so long to buy that the shirts I want are 80+10% off, or a net savings of 82%  I bought four XS shirts for $70, including tax and shipping charges!  Being tiny makes a huge difference in shopping for sale bargains.
